If you’re looking to spice up your usual makeup routine, TikTok is the place to look for all the hottest beauty trends. Recently, the 92i makeup trend has flooded our feeds, and it’s reigniting our love for the soft glam looks of the 2010s. Although the trend originated from France, it’s recently resurfaced on a way larger scale and has inspired beauty lovers from all over to recreate the looks at home. So, whether you’ve dabbled with soft glam in the past, or you’re just looking to stray from the clean girl look—take note of the 92i makeup trend.

What Is 92i Makeup?

There’s a reason why 92i makeup seems super familiar. In fact, the 92i makeup trend has sparked a bit of controversy on TikTok for looking similar to 2016 makeup trends. Some commenters argue that it’s another variation of “Latina makeup,” although “92i” specifically refers to the French trend. No matter what you call it, 92i makeup—like soft glam, is all about bold carved out brows, sharp liner & lashes, full coverage foundation, dramatic contour, minimal blush, blinding highlighter, and a brown lip combo. Of course, it comes in tons of different variations—but it’s mostly defined by full glam and bold eye looks. While 2025 makeup trends lean more dewy and flushed, 92i makeup favors matte skin and carved out cheekbones.

Why Is It Called 92i Makeup?

Because the soft glam look is only known as “92i makeup” among French users, some American TikTokers weren’t aware of the trend’s origins. According to one commenter, “92i makeup is a style worn by Maghrebi women in France during the 2000s. The term 92i is the number of the area where the women live.” On the other hand, some commenters say that the trend’s name comes from a French rapper named Booba, who popularized the 92i aesthetic in the early 2010s. Either way, 92i refers to an entire pop culture movement and aesthetic in France, and it’s often associated with what Americans consider 2010s era makeup and fashion.

How To Do 92i Makeup

While less is more with the clean girl look, more is more when it comes to 92i makeup. Firstly, apply your favorite high coverage matte foundation, followed by an equally high coverage concealer. (Preferably a few shades lighter to highlight.) Next, use powder or a pencil to shape your eyebrows—the blockier they are, the better. Then, use your concealer to carve out your brows so they’re extra sharp. After that, use a cream contour to emphasize your nose, forehead, and cheek bones. While baking with powder is optional, it’ll give you that perfectly airbrushed look. Don’t forget to highlight your cheeks and the tip of your nose with a blinding highlighter. And lastly, apply a warm shadow to your lids—then finish off with winged liner, fluffy eyelashes, and a matte lip combo.
