Between award season and the current New York Fashion Week Fall 2020 season, there’s nowhere inspiration can’t be found outside our Instagram feeds and friend circles. Unsurprisingly, trends are already emerging and though the runway marathon has only just begun, we’ve already spotted plenty of standout looks we think are worth a double-take. And since some of our favorite affordable brands are responsible for most of these moving masterpieces, we can easily recreate any of them too.
For instance, a couple of MAC Cosmetics products are all you need to replicate the sharp cat eye at Rag & Bone. If you want to style a ponytail free of flyaways, TreSemme has you covered with the products they used for the Christian Siriano runway. And then there are beauty looks that are just simply too cool to turn away from. Ahead, all of the noteworthy hair and makeup shots kicking off Fashion Month.

Anyone who follows Justine Marjan on Instagram knows that her braided styles are masterful. She brought those skills to the Minkoff runway, where models wore different variations of boho fishtail braids to complement the floral garments. Marjan “wanted the braids and hair to feel disheveled and imperfect as if models didn’t fuss too much with it or it was slept on.”
To create that “I woke up like this vibe,” she used a trio of TRESemme sprays: the Volume Thickening Spray ($4.99), Dry Texture Finishing Spray ($4.99), and Compressed Micro Mist Level 4: Extend Hair Spray ($4.92).

Lead makeup artist Kanako Takase described the look as “all about skin, nudes, flesh but polished.” The “90s feel” was accomplished with a handful of M.A.C. Cosmetic products including the Studio Face and Body Foundation ($31), Studio Fix Sculpt and Shape Contour Palette ($39.50), three neutral shades of the upcoming Powder Kiss Soft Matte eyeshadow, the Extended Play Gigablack Mascara ($20) and the Pro Lip Palette Necessary Nudes ($25).

In addition to laidback top knots, every model got to strut the runway in Viseart‘s “Madame X” lipstick, a “red inspired by the end of the victorian era and the beginnings of the jazz age.” Beforehand, their skin was prepped with Blue Lagoon Iceland Skincare and one of our new favorite brands, wondergloss.

“American chic” was the theme of this highly-anticipated show, where Dyson products were used to create sleek, straight ponytails while makeup was kept glowy and minimal with a slew of M.A.C. Cosmetic products launching this spring, including Strobe Glaze and Powder Kiss Liquid Lipcolour.

The “refined but attainable” aesthetic of the Brock girl was achieved thanks to products from Gucci Westman’s chic Westman Atelier line (this mascara is amazing, BTW). Using the 70s era as inspo, some of the products used on the runway included the vibrant “Bright Tomato” shade from the Lip Suede palette ($85) and two shades from the brand new Eye Pod Les Nuits Palette, launching in April.
Additionally, Oribe Global Ambassador James Pecis created a sleek chignon using (but not limited to) the Maximista Thickening Spray ($39) and Star Glow Styling Wax ($42) to keep it smooth and secure.

Clean skin, groomed brows, moisturized lips and throwback hairstyling sum up the beauty direction of this breathtaking show.

Lead makeup artist Marcelo Gutierrez used M.A.C. products to bring the “modern Christopher John Rogers woman who steps into a chic and elegant party” to life. To complement the spectrum of standout hairstyles, just some of the M.A.C. staples Gutierrez used were the Hyper Real Glow Palette: Get Lit ($39.50) on the high planes of the face, Mineral Skinfinish Natural ($36) all over, and “Quite the Standout” Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colour ($22) topped with Can’t Afford This from the Art Library: It’s Designer palette ($48).

Over at the consistently inclusive Chromat presentation, models flaunted multicolored eye looks while celebrity stylist Justine Marjan used Chromat ribbons, TRESemme Dry Texture Finishing Spray ($4.99), and TRESemme Compressed Micro Mist Level 4: Extend Hair Spray ($4.92) to honor the show’s Olympic undertones with “imperfect and achievable” hairstyles.

Two words: fuschia lipstick.

According to TRESemmé NYFW Stylist Odile Gilbert, this “graphic and feminine” hairstyle “incorporates a lot of control, but also shows movement in the front.” To achieve this, she used two TRESemme sprays and the TRES TWO Extra Hold Mousse ($5.99).

To complement the playful and feminine vibe of the garments, stylist Jawara used the Professional Edition of this Dyson Supersonic hair dryer ($399) to better perfect these gorgeous ponytails and bangs.

The Longchamp runway delivered plenty of drama with overlined eyes and red lips.

Hairstylist Kien Hoang used all Oribe products, including the Swept Up Volume Powder Spray ($42) and Gold Lust Pre-Shampoo Intensive Treatment ($68), to create effortless, unstructured waves.

Understated and beautiful hair inspo was unveiled at Tory Burch, where models’ hair was styled into a down do with a middle part.

This runway was all about embellishment and plenty of sparkles, thanks to makeup products from Morphe Cosmetics and crystals provided by Swarovski. Some models were fashioned with bold eyeshadow colors topped with glitter.

And then there were models who looked like intergalactic sirens with jewels covering clean, glowy skin.

We have Maybelline to thank for the Harley Quinn-inspired makeup at Siriano’s show, where high-shine lipstick, heavily-lined eyes and heart decals stole the show.

Celebrity stylist Justine Marjan used TRESemme products to create these ultra-sleek, multicolored ponytails.

Over at Monse, it was all about clean skin and a focus on eye makeup. While some models wore classic cat eyes….

Other models strut their stuff while wearing watercolor-esque colors all over the lids.

Rolland’s red-carpet-ready garments were complemented with slicked-back hair.

M.A.C. Cosmetics handled the makeup at Rag & Bone, which ranged from moving art pieces….

To sharp AF cat eyes. Some of the products used included the Brushstroke Liner ($22), Strobe Cream ($35) and Face and Body Foundation ($31).

The cat eye was also the star of this runway, except makeup artists upped the ante with vibrant colors.

On the Tadashi Shoji runway, the lips and skin played background to bold, vibrant eyeshadow covering the lids.

Ford’s celebrity-favorite show delivered sleek and sexy makeup, including multidimensional eye makeup with gold liner on the inner corners and rose-toned shadow on the lids.
