Charli XCX, Patron Saint of Iconic Hairstyles, Makes a Case for the Side Part
Charli xcx‘s debut album came out in 2013, and since then, she’s has had more iconic hair transformations than I can count. You have to give it up for the girl, she really is the Patron Saint of Iconic Hairstyles. So when she went to the Babygirl premiere after party at the Chateau Marmont last night with a sleek blowout and a DEEP side part, well I took notice.
Charli wore her hair in a glossy, silky soft wave and a deep part, a departure from her current look of the moment, which is her natural hair styled in a sexy mane, often parted in the middle right now. Obviously, both look sick on her. The rest of her glam was her usual thing: smudgy eyeliner winged out. She wore a one-shoulder white ruched top and a pair of baggy jeans and black boots.
Listen. I was there. I had a side part up until 2019. I went middle when everyone else did. And I won’t lie. I enjoyed myself. But the slander they put on the side part honestly scared me. I loved that side part, and I thought it was such a chic way to wear your hair. And don’t get me started on skinny jeans. Anyway.
Charli, you are a soldier in a long fight to get the respect the side part deserves. I have short hair now, so this is irrelevant to me at the minute, but as soon as my situation grows out, I’m parting it to the side with your courage and valor as inspiration.
