Justin Bieber did a thing. The singer unveiled a drastic hair transformation while out and about in New York City on Wednesday, January 30. While getting snapped by photographers, he removed his black hat (which he paired with a bright yellow sweatshirt and baggy tan pants) to reveal a fresh buzz cut. The clean-shaven look was complemented by clean-shaven facial hair.

This wouldn’t be the first time Bieber chopped his tresses. He rocked a buzz cut for a bit in 2021 and famously donned a platinum buzz cut in 2017. (His other hair eras include a pompadour, sleek combovers, cornrows, and locs.) Bieber’s latest stint with the look comes after he teased new music earlier this month. In a carousel of photos shared via Instagram, which included snaps of his wife Hailey Bieber and their baby son Jack, Justin could be seen recording music. A few days prior, on January 15, Justin shared an Instagram Story that featured himself singing lyrics of an unnamed song.

While Justin hasn’t officially confirmed that a new record is indeed on the way, fans are excited—considering he released his last project, his sixth studio album, Justice, in March 2021. The album included hits like “Peaches,” “Holy,” “Anyone,” and “Ghost.” Justice was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2022 Grammys, and “Peaches” received a Song of the Year and Best R&B Performance nomination. In the time since, Justin has been prioritizing his personal life. The artist and wife Hailey—who he wed in 2018—welcomed baby Jack in August 2024. The couple have only shared glimpses of their baby since his arrival.
