By now we all know that the clean girl slicked-back bun is Sofia Richie Grainge’s signature hairstyle, but The Bachelor’s Rachael Kirkconnell is definitely giving her a run for her money. Just recently, Rachael posted a TikTok revealing the exact steps she takes to achieve her slicked-back bun, and it’s safe to say she has it down to a science. If you’ve been struggling to master the hairstyle, or if you’re just looking for another way to keep your hair out of your face in between wash days—take note of Rachael’s tips and tricks.

While hairstyle trends like “commuter girl hair” are meant to be messy and quick, the slicked-back bun is the exact opposite. Because of this, it can be super difficult to pull off—especially if you don’t have the right tools or products. Luckily, Rachael is making it that much easier for us with her in depth TikTok tutorial. Although the slicked-back bun may seem super intimidating at first glance—with a little practice and the right styling cream, you’ll be living your Sofia Richie Grainge clean girl fantasy in no time.

Just yesterday, Rachael posted a TikTok about how she gets the perfect slicked-back bun. First, she coats the top of her hair with the L’Oreal Elnett Slick Back Styling Cream —which she says is perfect for slicked-back hairstyles since it gives a flexible hold. Then, she pulls her hair back and combs through her hair from the back to the front. After quickly tying back her hair, Rachael goes in with more styling cream to seal everything down. Next, she uses a bristle brush to smooth down her hair as much as possible. She then lets her hair down before twisting it into a bun, adjusting it to her liking. Finally, she applies a bit more cream to tame her flyaways and then locks everything in place with a bamboo toothbrush.

For Rachael’s slicked-back bun, the styling cream is what holds her entire look together—so we’re more than intrigued to try it out for ourselves. Thanks to Rachael, achieving the perfect slicked-back bun doesn’t seem like such a hassle anymore.
