The Unboxing Experience
Receiving this wig, I was genuinely excited to experience every aspect. Upon opening the Luvme box, you’re greeted with a wrapped wig enclosed in a protective fishnet cap, which helps keep the style perfectly contained. A Luvme branded hair comb, some essential hair clips, and a separate elastic band came thoughtfully packaged in the box as well—all the tools to get you started.
Unraveling this unit, luscious tight curls cascade down dramatically with a perfect left C part positioned in the lace area. At first sight, this piece is pure glamour—the density is incredible, full and voluminous, clearly living up to that 200%/250% density promise. The styling is impeccable, with each curl perfectly formed and ready to make a statement.
Trying on the unit she was absolutely gorgeous. This particular unit features that genius drawstring mechanism that allows you to tighten or loosen the wig to your exact discretion, which is honestly a major plus that sets it apart from the competition.
Inside the wig are 3 strategically placed short combs, one to the left, right, and near the nape that help you secure it beautifully into your natural hair for all-day confidence.
The Fit
At first fitting, those curls were extra tight. For this to be titled a loose wave, it would definitely need lots of loving combing and a couple of patient days for the curls to gracefully fall into their intended loose wave pattern. Not a downside exactly, just choose your styling battles wisely based on your hair goals.
The scent of the wig immediately stands out as with most chemically manipulated wigs—it’s that familiar smell of light unpleasantness that you’ll want to wash off via a thorough shampoo and conditioner session or fabric softener (a brilliant trick the wig community swears by to get this common scent off of chemically styled hair). But note, this will completely strip the pre-styling, which is honestly one of the main reasons you would purchase such a meticulously crafted unit; the styling saves you an entire trip to the hair salon, and you’ll be left having to restyle from scratch. Again, choose your battles wisely. I will also mention that using a hot tool on this SKU doesn’t make it smell any better—it may actually smell worse, which is exactly what I encountered during my styling experiments.
As efficient as a pre-cut lace would seem—meaning a lace wig whose perimeter already comes cut to fit around your forehead naturally—sometimes the cut may not favor your specific face frame. You can’t pre-determine how a pre-cut lace will be cut or how it will fit your face, so consider that when purchasing. (For example, if you already have a box-shaped face, you may want to avoid a boxy pre-cut lace, which is what I found true on this unit.) Nowadays, wig enthusiasts are shaping their lace to mimic more of a natural hairline that may include a widow’s peak, and or more jagged instead of rigid hair line, so definitely keep that customization option in mind.
While the knots on the unit claim to be bleached, they honestly do require more bleaching because they are quite noticeable and need that seamless blend for a natural look. Though the wig industry has been described as the “Wild West” due to specific, industry-wide standards and regulations, Luvme prides itself on constructing its wigs from 100 percent human hair. And with this wig, for the most part, feels and looks as such (as you can tell from my photos!).
