I got religiously into scalp care a couple of years ago after learning how important it is for maintaining hair health. I’ve since implemented countless hair oils, scalp treatments and so on into my regimen to keep my locks full and strong, and while I’ve found trusted products along the way, I can confidently say only one formula has truly taken the cake.

It’s called the NatureLab TOKYO Perfect Clean Scalp Rinse , a treatment inspired by ancient Japanese beauty rituals, and it’s divine. The product is meant to be applied before cleansing your hair, and I typically use it one to two times per week. The rinse feels extremely soothing as soon as it hits your scalp—kind of like dousing it in cool water on a hot day. It’s designed for all hair types to use routinely to treat dry, itchy scalps and encourage new growth on thinning areas, both concerns I’ve seen rectified overtime.

The two main ingredients, rice water and sake water, are responsible for restoring balance across your scalp’s microbiome. Rice water has been a trending ingredient for hair care in the past several years—Regenerative Medicine Expert and WeThrivv Founder, Dr. Sanjay Batra, previously told StyleCaster, “The sterols in rice water, including the anti-androgen molecules named stigmasterol and sitosterol, can pass through the scalp, especially with the help of the fatty acids. They go into the scalp and reduce the amount of damaging hormones, such as DHT.” Sake water is a helpful addition, as it’s rich in probiotics that restore the scalp’s pH level.

Ever since I was introduced to the Perfect Clean Scalp Rinse , I’ve run through about four bottles. This marks one of my most reused products of all time, which is saying a lot as a beauty editor who has a rotating door of products to test for work. I’ve seen new hair growth come in along my hairline with consistent use, and my scalp is infinitely less itchy, so long as I’m strict with regular applications. I also pair the rinse with a scalp brush to help boost circulation and ensure the product is really getting where it needs to go.

I’m pretty proud of my hair health, and definitely credit some of that success to use of this scalp rinse. It’s noticeably stronger, shinier and my color job hasn’t ever been affected by the formula.

Don’t scroll past this product without trying it! Trust me, you’ll be running through bottles like it’s water soon enough, too.
