Gigi Hadid Wore Robot-Inspired Nails Last Night to Match Her ‘Boyfriend’
Nobody took last night’s Met Gala’s fashion-meets-future theme more literally than Zayn Malik, who arrived wearing metal robot arms over his Versace suit. Now here is a man who looks absolutely ridiculous!
I nearly felt sorry for Gigi Hadid—in the same way that I feel sorry for myself when I leave the house with my boyfriend when he’s wearing his novelty T-shirt that says “I <3 My Big Fake Tits”—but I no longer have reason to fear, because Gigi had her own robot tricks up her metaphorical sleeves: Her custom KISS nails reflected her own commitment to AI-inspired style and, by extension, her commitment to appearing in public alongside a man with silver arms.

The nails—long, chrome, and filed to a point—were created by celebrity manicurist Mar y Soul, who says of the design, “I collaborated with KISS Products to create custom elegant almond-shaped, chromed-out nails, with a hidden detail.” That detail would be crystals—three underneath each nail, “for an element of surprise, and to ensure her nails look flawless no matter what angle.” Gigi complemented the look with something I am inclined to call “metal finger coverings,” though that is almost definitely not the correct term.
Don’t even worry about “getting the look”; not only are the nails custom but they were also $2,000, so you simply cannot have them, even if you desperately need an accessory to match your robot boyfriend. (Quote unquote “boyfriend,” if this body language interpretation is at all accurate.)
