As much as we’d love to look impeccably put-together every day of our lives, there’s a vast difference between how we’d like to look and what’s actually practical. A flawless blowout at all times, for example? Short of some miracle, we don’t see that kind of dream becoming a reality.
We’ll be frank: We frequently find ourselves under circumstances where we’ve got almost no choice but to air dry our hair. Whether we’re rushing out the door in the morning or just don’t have the time, patience, or mastery of technique that a good blowdry requires, letting our hair dry naturally is the beauty equivalent of letting the chips fall where they may. Air drying doesn’t always result in perfect hair, but in results in dry hair, which is all that matters sometimes—and, of course, you can always fix it up later on.
Aside from using a serum to tame frizz, or a leave-in conditioner to treat haggard ends, styling products fall short of doing their due diligence on hair that’s not being, well, styled. That is to say that, unless you’re blowing your hair dry, most products aren’t particularly helpful. The beauty market falls short of something that’s meant specifically to enhance the results of air drying, which is kind of unfortunate, especially when you consider that air drying is even kind of in right now. Lazy, textured, slightly disheveled hair is—dare we say it?—the new straight, smooth blowout.
So while we’re not surprised, we’re certainly pleased that Bumble and bumble, serious hair innovators since 1977 (!), took it upon themselves to release a product that hits all these notes and more. Bumble and bumble Don’t Blow It (H)air Styler, available online in June, is the hair cream of our dreams: It has a lightweight feel that makes it perfect for any hair type, and it enhances texture and body without growing sticky, tames frizz, and gives the finest hair the kind of “weight” that’s totally necessary for getting any kind of style or hold. Like everything from the legendary house of Bumble, it has that “fresh from the salon” scent, which is a selling point in and of itself—but don’t let those frivolities distract you from the point at hand. This product has earned itself a permanent place in our (un)styling repertoire, and we guarantee it’ll charm you, too.
