Getting your hair colored is one thing; maintaining that color is another thing entirely. It’s especially difficult to preserve salon-fresh color when your hair has been lightened: The inevitable damage from the bleaching process turns healthy hair quite porous, so just as it absorbs color faster like a sponge, it releases it, too. As you shampoo, the color over top will start to wash out, and that’s when the fading happens.
Short of heading back into the salon every few weeks for a fresh glaze, there’s not much you can do—wash less, condition more, whatever gets you through the day. Or—or!—you can turn to our one and only, the unrivaled Davines Alchemic System. It’s the only way to breathe new life back into your color at home without fussing with box color, which almost never ends well.
The line offers gentle shampoos and thick, creamy conditioners in six shades. Icy blondes and grey can choose the purple-tinted Silver; light honey blondes can opt for Golden; deeper blondes and light browns can go for Tobacco; redheads can choose between Copper and Red; and the (award-winning!) Chocolate formula lends amazing richness to dark brown and black hair. Basically, it leaves no hair color unaddressed, and we’ve even used the darker shades to turn faded blondes into deeper browns with great success. We’re particularly fond of the conditioners, as you can leave them in for as long or as little as you like depending on what depth of color you want.
Given that hair coloring is one of beauty’s greatest tribulations—after all, it creates a vicious cycle, because once you color once you’ve just got to color again, and so on and so forth—the Alchemic System takes so much of the stress out of keeping your hair looking amazing, even weeks after your last salon visit. You’ll never have to make an urgent color appointment ever again. Well, almost never.
