Most of us, once we find our look, tend to stick with it. Witness Halle Berry with her pixie cut, or Jennifer Aniston with her signature long, blonde mane. But if you’re committing to a lifelong look without test driving all your options, you might be missing out on a potentially amazing makeover opportunity. We dare you to add these five classic ‘dos to your hairstyle bucket list.
1. The Pixie Cut
Anne Hathaway and Rihanna both pull off the pixie cut.

Right now you may be saying, “I could never pull off short hair.” We’re wagering that’s what Anne Hathaway thought, too, before taking the pixie plunge, but we’re glad she did. “I love the short-haired lifestyle,” she recently told Vogue. “I feel prettier, and much more myself.” If that’s not a testament to making the cut, we don’t know what is.
2. As Long As It Gets
Ashley Greene and Amy Adams have covetable long locks.

How far can you grow? You’ll never know until you try letting your hair grow long. Luckily, we have some helpful advice for making that happen, but if all else fails, hair extensions are an excellent no-commitment option. Warning: Lengthy locks may provoke an overwhelming feeling of bombshell-ness. What you do with that is up to you.
3. The Bob
Charlize Theron and Keira Knightley show off two totally different takes on the bob.

No hairstyle feels fresher than a newly cropped, chin-grazing bob. And since this cut has so many possibilities (wavy and layered, sleek and precise, asymmetrical or uniform), it flatters almost any face shape. Still not sold? Here’s how to tell if a bob would work on you.
4. Bangs
Jennifer Hudson and Jessica Biel both look lovely with fringe.

The prospect of cutting bangs has struck fear in the hearts of many makeover-phobes, but we’re here to tell you that it’s less of a commitment that you might think. Not only are there myriad shapes to try—from blunt to side-swept to barely-there wisps—but bangs can be swept to the side or pinned off the face if you find them truly unflattering. But you may just fall in love with your new fringe—try it and see!
5. The Texture 180
We love Jennifer Lopez’s waves as much as we dig Victoria Justice’s super-sleek strands.

Want a fresh perspective on your hairstyle? Try switching up your styling routine. If you blow out your wavy hair every day, let your natural texture take shape for once. Or if you have super straight strands that won’t hold a curl, try a body wave. Today’s permanent texture treatments have come a long way since the ‘80s, and your new look should last for 2-3 months—hardly a lifetime as far as hair goes. You’ll be surprised at how changing your hair’s texture highlights your facial features differently.
Which of these hairstyles have you tried? Is there any look you’d never (ever?) attempt again?
