The Worst Heidi Braid We’ve Ever Seen

When it comes to hot new beauty trends, we can’t freaking wait to hop on the bandwagon. We admire trend-loving celebs just as much as those who make them their own, so when we spotted Candice Swanepoel, a red carpet regular, wearing this headband braid, we couldn’t help but think: WTF?
Needless to say, the Victoria’s Secret model is known and paid for her drop dead gorgeous looks. That includes her glossy, golden mane and fashion choices too. It’s easy to get hair-spiration from a new Victoria’s Secret catalogue–the ‘dos are just as sexy as the undies. So why the beauty blunder this time? We’re not really sure.
Here’s why this look doesn’t work: it’s too bulky and too “Hansel and Gretel.” In fact, we here at Daily Makeover have nicknamed this style the “Heidi braid”–if she was shooting for a German fairy tale look, she’d have nailed it. But as a South African-native, we think that probably wasn’t Candice’s goal.
The trick to making a headband braid work is to keep it simple. You don’t want a big, bulky halo around your head; you want the braid to blend in with your hair. If that is your style of choice, don’t add any frills–Candice should have skipped the extra curls at the ends of her hair.
