Back in the day when my hair was it’s natural shoe polish black color, I used to have a full head of bouncy, shiny hair. I had to flat iron my hair maybe once a week. Ever since I went bleach blond back in February of 2009, my hair texture has never been the same. It gets really kinky, especially underneath, and I almost always have to flat iron it. Which, as you know, doesn’t exactly help with repairing my dry, whithered hair.
Once every six weeks, I’d hit up the hair salon for a root touch up and I’d get the bouncy, shiny locks of days younger (BB: before bleach) but it would only last until I the next time I shampooed my hair and I’d be right back where I started; Kinksville: party of one!
I decided to give the 2-step smoothing kid from Garnier a try. The Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector Kit claims to keep your hair frizz free for up to 7 shampoos, which is perfect for me because I wash my hair only 1-2 times a week.
Ok so here I am before applying the smoothing kit:
My hair is all kinky and wiry and not looking too lustrous.
Here’s the back for your viewing pleasure:
Oh hello Mr. Frizz. How’s your Monday going?
OK so first I hopped in the shower and shampooed my hair. Then you towel dry it and apply the Smooth-It Serum. Leave it on for 20 minutes. Don’t worry, the serum totally has a funky odor but it’s normal.
After 20 minutes (you can leave it in for 30 minutes if you have really coarse/thick hair) rinse, but don’t shampoo again. Towel dry your locks again and then apply the Heat-Activated Perfect-It Cream from root to tip. Then blow dry and flat iron!
I wanted my test to be controlled so I styled my hair with all of my usual hair products. Here is the end result!
Smooth and straight!
The back:
I’m excited to see how it looks after my next shampoo!
Cost: $9.99
