I often struggle to find a foundation that gives me a smooth-looking base to work off of; my uneven texture, fluctuating redness and constant breakouts make it difficult. Sometimes, I’ll look in the mirror and feel the urge to start my entire beat over. Needless to say, leaving the house feeling confident in my complexion can be hard—something all too familiar for those with varying skin issues. That’s why when I tried Anastasia Beverly Hills’ newest foundation formula, I immediately fell head over heels.
The Impeccable Blurring Second-Skin Matte Foundation claims to blur imperfections across the skin in a seamless and natural way. Whether you deal with wrinkles, noticeable pores, skin texture, or blemishes, the medium to full coverage makeup will effectively shield them all with a second-skin, barely-there finish. I can confirm with 100 percent honesty this is all true; I’m not even kidding when I say I gasped out loud when I first applied it.

But aren’t most foundations technically supposed to do all of the above? Sure, but there’s something different about this one. For starters, it made me look like I was wearing a real life Instagram filter. The foundation magically turned my skin from lackluster to glowing in seconds, blending out like a dream with every swipe. I can thank the Liquiskin Complex, which enhances the foundation’s performance, for that.
And don’t even get me started on how long it lasts throughout the day and night. The brand promises 12 hours of wear time, but I’d argue it stays put even longer. I’ve worn it to intense physical therapy sessions and through the streets of New York City, and needed little to no powder and concealer touch-ups. It’s also water-resistant, so you can get caught in the rain and still find it fully intact. Plus, as someone with super sensitive skin, I appreciate that it’s made without phthalates, mineral oil, silicones, sulfates, parabens, and fragrances.
Now, for what it does include ingredient-wise. The foundation features some skin-loving additives that make it good for your complexion: Hyaluronic acid hydrates the skin and ensures the makeup won’t cling to dry areas; bixa orellana, a natural botanical extract, softens texture for a flawless finish; phytoglycogen, a collagen-booster, works to improve your skin’s overall radiance. I don’t know about you, but I’ll take it.
All 25 shades of the Impeccable Blurring Second-Skin Matte Foundation are available at ABH for $46 each. Trust me, it’s worth the splurge.
