I take a skincare-first approach to my MOTD and, if I’m being completely honest, opt for a lazy makeup routine several times a week. Additionally, I travel a lot and find the less-is-more approach helps me stay within my carry-on liquid limits.

To give myself more wiggle room, I recently swapped out my travel-sized cleanser and skincare formulas for as many solid alternatives as possible, including a solid cleanser, sunscreen, and face mask. And, while most of my makeup routine doesn’t take up a lot of real estate in those dreaded clear plastic TSA bags, I’ve been on the hunt for some solid makeup alternatives, too. Enter: The Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Balm Serum, aka the best stick foundation for travel.

Best Stick Foundation for Travel

Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Balm Serum Review: The Best Stick Foundation for Travel
Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Balm Serum
Shades: 16
Size: 0.63 oz
Key Ingredients: HA+ microspheres, peptide complex, fatty acids

Pros:
Easy to apply
Blends well (even with fingers)
Sheer, natural-looking coverage

Cons:
I didn’t love the matte finish
Not a lot of deep shades to choose from

This formula is a solid face tint that looks like a deodorant stick and glides onto the face without tugging or pulling. It deposits pigment onto the complexion that you can blend into the skin using your fingers or a makeup brush. As someone who typically reaches for a face tint over a foundation formula, I was surprised at how much pigment is packed into the 0.63-oz stick—it’s super pigmented.

The skin tint has more of a matte finish that, despite its texture, is still easy to blend into the skin for even coverage. While I loved the product, I don’t usually go for matte foundations since my skin runs ultra-dry, so this is something I’ll definitely reach for in the summertime when my face sees a bit more oil production (and, let’s be real: sweat). That said, the mattifying finish didn’t get in the way of it leaving my skin feeling soft and smooth with that barely-there skin tint feel.
