Sadly, I was not blessed with thick eyelashes. They’re barely there—clearly an afterthought. Luckily, as a shopping editor, I get to test an endless supply of mascaras. I’m constantly sent the latest and greatest, cult favorite brands that celebrities and influencers can’t get enough of, and under-the-radar gems that deliver on their promises to pronounce even the most invisible of lashes. My latest go-to? Anastasia Beverly Hills Lash Sculpt Lengthening & Volumizing mascara.

A Review of Anastasia Beverly Hills Lash Sculpt Lengthening Mascara
Anastasia Beverly Hills, Lash Sculpt Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara

Let’s start with first impressions: The packaging of this mascara is incredibly luxe. It comes in a fat tube, and a no-fuss wand. After a single swipe, the formula feels lightweight—yet not inky (there’s hardly any transfer to my lids or under-eyes). I immediately get bolder, longer lashes, but opt for two more coats to see how far this formulation can go (tldr; very far!).

In the above photo, you can see what my lashes look like without mascara (left), and what just one eye looks with ABH Lash Sculpt on (right).

With both eyes applied, I feel transformed. My eyes look bigger (I even look less tired, I think? A miracle these days, with a six-month-old who’s teething at night), and my longer and thicker lashes accentuate my hazel eyes and tie the rest of my very minimal makeup together.

This is the ideal mascara if you’re looking for a buildable, versatile formula: Apply one coat and you can attain super natural lashes, apply two or three, and you’ll get thicker, more voluminous lashes that give you that falsie look. It’s not overpowering, but the formula does evenly coat each lash so that the end result is Betty Boop-like.

The mascara, “lifts, holds, and separates lashes perfectly,” one Sephora reviewer says. “My lashes look long and pretty and not spidery. Absolutely gorgeous!”

Another writes, “I love the lengthening this ABH mascara provides. My lashes are non existent without mascara and a lot of them clump my lashes together but the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lash Sculpt Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara has been a repurchase for me ever since receiving. Not only do I love the packaging but the brush just separates each lash. I use at minimum 2 coats no more than 3. I love that the mascara is a matte black and provides an all day/night lasting coverage. It’s absolutely a gorgeous finish.”

The wand itself is fairly easy to use and not gimmick-y like some others on the market. It does hold a lot of product, so my only note is to be careful when you’re applying—you may need to use a Q-tip or wipe to get extra product off your lids in case it smudges.

As for the wear: Some reviews admit that it can flake throughout the day, but I haven’t noticed this yet. For an under-$30 mascara, I feel like you get decent wear from it throughout the day, and it’s still easy to take off (no raccoon eyes at night).

Overall, this is yet another mascara winner I can add to my shopping pile.
