Glossier is tapped in to its Gen Z audience. From previously collaborating with Olivia Rodrigo to tons of buzzy TikTok-viral launches and exclusive merch drops—Glossier is more than just a beauty brand to its loyal fanbase. And just today, Glossier announced a brand new lip oil in collaboration with first-of-its-kind global girl group KATSEYE. Just like all of Glossier’s launches, the new Lip Glaze has already stirred up tons of conversation (both positive and negative) online.

Although Olivia Rodrigo served as Glossier’s first-ever celebrity partnership, this new collaboration with KATSEYE is sure to be just as influential. The new Lip Glaze is $22 and comes in six shades, with one inspired by each member—and is the epitome of Glossier’s signature no makeup-makeup aesthetic.

With members from four different countries (the United States, South Korea, Switzerland, and the Philippines), Glossier CEO Kyle Leahy says the brand tapped KATSEYE because of their unapologetic individuality, “Our partnership with KATSEYE brings [Glossier’s] ethos to life—a multinational group of super-talented women, each with unique personalities who embody the individuality that Glossier is all about.”

Although the new Lip Glazes only officially dropped today, fans have been discussing them since Glossier first teased the launch on social media weeks ago. The oils claim to provide 12 hours of hydration, and aim to smooth and plump your lips with apricot and raspberry seed oil. And while Glossier has already ventured into the lip world with hydrating lipsticks and closely similar lip glosses—fans immediately noticed how almost all of the Lip Glaze shades seemed extremely sheer.

While the three lightest shades Icy (a clear blue inspired by Daniella), Frosty (a clear lilac inspired by Yoonchae), and Chilly (a cool baby pink inspired by Sophia) only provide a subtle tint—the darker shades Tangy (a coral pink inspired by Megan), Creamy (a warm rose inspired by Manon), and Melty (a rich red brown inspired by Lara) definitely pack more of a punch.

Despite what TikTokers might say, the sheerness of the Lip Glaze is intentional. Unlike lip glosses, lip oils tend to be thick and hydrating, as well as have more of a sheer wash of color. So, while some of the gelato-inspired Lip Glaze shades look pastel and bright in the tube—they are way more subtle on the lips. Glossier recommends wearing them on top of your favorite lip combo or on their own to add shine. If you’re a fan of the “your lips but better” look (or if you’re a KATSEYE stan), the Lip Glaze is bound to be your next favorite lip product.
