Sol de Janeiro Just Launched a New, Limited-Edition Perfume Mist & It’s Literally Summer in a Bottle

The TikTok-loved brand gets so much hype, but is its new fragrance worth adding to your collection?

I can be quite picky when it comes to fragrances. I don’t even like the smell of most scents and usually only hyperfixate on one bottle at a time. So, I was surprised when Sol de Janeiro’s new Sundays in Rio Perfume Mist made me do a double take.

The brand’s newest fragrance launch hits the Sephora app on July 30, 2025 and all other platforms the next day. It joins Sol de Janeiro’s beloved line of perfume mists (did you know the brand sells one bottle per minute? Yup, they’re that good). But what makes this limited-edition scent something to write home about? Spritz the pretty purple bottle and you’ll first pick up on its pink pepper, pear, and ambrette absolute top notes. Next, enjoy the smell of warm vanilla, orris concrete, and champaca mid notes, followed by amber musk and upcycled orcanox dry notes. All together, you get a floral gourmand scent that’s both inviting and vibrant.

If you were to sum up this perfume mist’s vibe and what it exudes, the answer would be a warm, fun summer day that you never want to end. It’s giving golden hour, drinks by the beach, and time well spent with good company all at once.

Take it from Ugo Charron, the perfumer who invented this aroma. He says in a Sol de Janeiro press release, “My synesthetic approach and the cozy, Brazilian spirit of aconchego led me on a journey to bottle the sensation of touch. Blending velvety notes with warm vanilla and the tingling pulse of pink pepper creates a sensorial scent that’s deeply comforting.”

Sundays in Rio is the closest thing to summer in a bottle, and I got to try it for myself. It’s the perfect balance of sweet, warm, and bright. None of the notes overpower each other, and it’s the kind of summery scent I’d make sure to pack for vacay or the beach. While I’m not sure if it’ll become my everyday, signature summer scent, I am sure that it smells vibrant and confident. If someone walked past me and I got a whiff, I’d wonder what fragrance they’re wearing and would maybe even steel myself to ask them directly (the ultimate compliment). StyleCaster also asked others in the office for their honest thoughts on the new launch. Here’s what they said:

Sol de Janeiro is known to be a playful brand, so it comes as no surprise that it recommends having a little fun with how you apply this product. Consider layering it with another Sol de Janeiro scent, like the Beija Flor Elasti-Cream. And don’t forget to spritz it all over your body and hair!

Don’t forget to recycle the bottle once you’ve used it all up (I’m sure it won’t take long at all). Be sure to rinse and recycle the bottle and hand over the cap and pump to TerraCycle. You can give the actual bottle a second life by turning it into a plant mister or using it for a DIY project. Pretty clever, right?

If you want to savor every last bit of summer, do it with Sol de Janeiro’s new Sundays in Rio Perfume Mist. It retails for $26 a pop, and since TikTok (especially Gen Z and Gen Alpha) absolutely adores this brand, I’d suggest you hurry and scoop up the new launch before it inevitably sells out.
