I Never Say This, but the Victoria Beckham x Augustinus Bader Makeup Collection Deserves to Be Absurdly Expensive

It’s no secret that I’m not the biggest fan of makeup—I think I mention it in almost every makeup article I write. But, as a beauty editor, it’s literally my job to try new makeup formulas. When I test makeup, I am admittedly very picky and look for products that look and feel natural on the complexion to enhance your natural beauty, rather than cover it up (kind of like adding spice to a recipe—you want to be able to see your features, just like you want to be able to taste your food). I found exactly what I was looking for in the new Victoria Beckham x Augustinus Bader collection, which features three standout products that instantly give you glow-y skin.
The products in question are The Concealer Pen, Cell Rejuvenating Power Serum, and The Cell Rejuvenating Illuminator in Golden (also available in pearlescent and rose). To me, makeup can sometimes feel like a filter, creating an artificial-looking glow that, don’t get me wrong, looks gorgeous in photos, but doesn’t always look right IRL. The Victoria Beckham x Augustinus Bader formulas all feature a skincare-first approach, utilizing ingredients that highlight your skin’s glow before foundation, setting powder, blush, and other makeup products, allowing that radiance to shine through layers of makeup for a more natural beauty look. It truly is all about how you prep and prime your face, and these products were made for prepping and priming.
It’s enhanced with a yeast ferment complex to clarify the skin and improve the skin barrier, resulting in more supple-looking skin. Additionally, it contains bio-peptides for their anti-inflammatory properties and rebalancing powers, as well as black crowberry fruit for its antioxidants and skin-toning benefits. It also features triple-weight hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, which work together to calm and reduce redness, target fine lines and wrinkles, and give your complexion a radiant glow.
While it is expensive, I think this is the hero product of the collection, and a little goes a long way (I used maybe two drops to cover my entire face).
It’s available in 16 shades, including a range of medium and deep tones, to give you a second-skin look. And, once it sinks into your skin, you feel like you’re wearing a tinted moisturizer, not a buildable formula that can provide eight hours of coverage. I accidentally applied more than I usually would, and it was still easy to blend into my complexion without feeling like I had a ton of product on my face.
All three of these products work so well together and enhance my skin in a way that still looks natural. More importantly, I love that I don’t actually feel like I have makeup on; it just feels like my skin (and some super-hydrating skincare formulas). You can also use all three formulas independently and still achieve excellent results. I don’t always feel like you get what you pay for when it comes to expensive products, but these totally align with the price.
