One of my favorite serotonin-boosting activities is swiping on a bold lip, even when I’m wearing sweatpants and haven’t washed my hair in four days. Because when you rock a fun orange-red or rose-y pink, you can do no wrong (at least that’s how it feels). But in order to pull that off well, you need exfoliated, soft, nourished lips. And for that, I’ve been using Bubble’s Talk Back serums.

Talk Back Watermelon is my favorite, simply because it smells like watermelon candy, and has an ever-so-slightly tint when you wear it by itself. Mainly, I love the formula because it *actually* softens my lips, no matter how dehydrated I get.

Gen Z loves Bubble for its drugstore prices and cute, poppy packaging—and I love the brand for its effective formulas that rival the expensive stuff (as a shopping editor, I’ve tried pretty much every expensive brand under the sun, and believe me when I say Bubble knows how to formulate an awesome skincare product without charging you an arm and a leg).

This particular lip care product has an ultra luscious ingredient lineup, including avocado oil & shea butter (for deep, buttery hydration), sunflower & pomegranate seed oils (not only do these fatty oils infuse lips with hydration, but they offer antioxidant protection to your barrier), squalane (more barrier help), sodium hyaluronate (the science-y part that offers long-lasting hydration so you don’t have to re-apply over and over again), and vitamin E (a classic supplement that aids in quick healing and nourishment of skin).

This is so clutch for lipstick lovers, who know that to pull off long-lasting, smooth wear you need a supple canvas. This lip serum gives you just that.

In the photo above, I’m wearing Tom Ford’s Wild Ginger, an in-your-face red-orange that has a slick finish. On its own, it’s more hydrating than other lipsticks, but with Talk Back, I can achieve that glassy, high fashion look—without any flaking or uneven spots that occur when your lips are dry.

Talk Back isn’t anything fancy—it’s just a very, very good lip conditioning product. But sometimes that’s really all you need.
