Estée Lauder Taps Irene Kim As Its Global Beauty Contributor
Internet it-girl, Irene Kim, wears many hats— from model, TV personality, beauty blogger, YouTube star—and she can now count herself a member of the Estée Lauder family. She will be bringing her international beauty voice to the Estée table. Not unfamiliar with the brand, Kim counts their Advanced Night Repair Serum as one of her skin care mainstays.
As for how Kim learned about her new gig, she says she was at a party with her agent in LA, being casually introduced to Kendall Jenner – as her new coworker. She said her “jaw dropped!” but whose jaw wouldn’t drop in front of Jenner?
Irene has already been an influencer in American and Korean style spheres (helps to be fluently bilingual!), having K-pop BFFs, hosting popular South Korean fashion and beauty shows (um, ever hear of K-Style?), and wracking up street style points every fashion week with a nod of approval from WWD. It was only a matter of time before she was snapped up by a brand like Estée Lauder with a long-standing beauty pedigree. All of us who were already fans of the brand now can look forward to a refreshing take on colorful internationally-influenced beauty.
The social media star has one thing to say about her chosen platform: “Beauty is confidence and how you carry yourself. It’s really about finding something you love and making it your own. The first time I became aware of it was when I decided to cut my own bangs with a pair of scissors when I was four!”
The brand will be working with Kim on how-to videos, predicting the next big trend in Korean beauty and potentially consulting on product development – and we’re sure a lot of social media content will be in the works as well.
Plus, we’re glad to see that we’ll be able to learn through Kim’s various beauty experiences – from DIY bangs to her multi-colored hair and her skin care essentials, of course.
