The Game-Changing Foundation You Probably Haven’t Heard Of—Yet
I’ve tried a million and a half foundations—and BB creams, and tinted moisturizers, and “complexion perfectors”—over the years, to very little success. It’s hard out here for a very pale, cool-toned, combination-skinned (oily and dry and sensitive, the best of both worlds!) person for whom makeup easily looks caked on, as if I’ve coated my face in pure white pigment from the Halloween store or maybe spackle.
Elcie Cosmetics Micro Silque Foundation ($45) is different. It’s fairly new, a little under-the-radar, and everybody who’s tried it likes it, including me. The formula is lightweight, but you can layer it and layer it to your heart’s content without looking thick or overdone. I apply it with a damp Beautyblender, smoothing and patting it in as I go, and the results are practically magical. Eight hours in front of a screen later, my skin looks as good as it did in the morning—this foundation is truly long-lasting, and doesn’t change in texture or become oily or dry over the course of the day. It just looks good and also feels soft, which leaves me stroking my face every so often. I want to say that that’s not as weird as it sounds, but it probably is.
I can’t personally attest to the claims of HD coverage, considering I am almost never photographed or filmed in HD, but I’ve noticed that my skin looks great both when I catch my reflection in a far-away store window and when I’m staring into a magnifying mirror. (I do these things frequently, and without shame.)
Equally as important as the finish is the shade range—there are twelve hues, and they cover the spectrum from my shade of choice (Porcelain, naturally) to the deep, rich Chestnut. The foundation has been known to sell out in record time, so it would be wise to order it as soon as a restock hits.
