Once summer rolls around, nobody is safe from scorching temperatures and humidity. You can’t just tell your body to stop sweating, but you also can’t (and shouldn’t) hole up indoors when the sunshine is calling. The best thing you can do to avoid looking like a shiny disco ball with raccoon eyes is to shop for sweat-proof makeup. And what better person to ask for product recommendations than a Peloton instructor?

We tapped Emma Lovewell, a Peloton instructor and author, to shed some light on the best sweat-proof makeup and her tips and tricks for keeping her beat intact. Keep reading to discover Emma’s sweat-proof makeup essentials.

Which products do you use to touch up your makeup after you’ve been sweating a lot?

After a sweat sesh, the Peloton instructor reaches for a face mist to freshen up. “My current go-to is the Rosewater Rejuvenating Mist by NOW . It gives you a healthy-looking glow and smells great,” she says.

What types of makeup formulas do you tend to reach for?

As one might expect for a fitness instructor, Emma gravitates toward waterproof makeup formulas. These types of formulas are especially crucial for her when it comes to eye makeup, like mascara and eyeliner

Who do you turn to for sweat-proof makeup product recommendations?

“My colleagues use makeup as much as I do, so we often compare notes. Also, because of the nature of my job, I am getting my makeup done for photoshoots fairly often so I love talking to makeup artists about what products they are using and what they are loving,” Emma explains. “I have found though, that everyone is different so what may work for me may not be the best for you. It’s really nice to do trial and error especially when the product is available in a travel size. It’s a win-win, you can give it a try and pack it in your carry-on.”

What is your favorite makeup remover?

Sometimes waterproof and sweat-proof makeup products can be more difficult to take off after a long day of wear. When in doubt, try Bioderma’s Micellar Water . “Every time I use it, I’m amazed at how much of my makeup comes off, even after I’ve washed my face,” Emma tells us.
