Get the Look: Jessica Chastain's Met Gala Makeup

The beauty looks of the 2015 Met Gala were some of the most fun and gorgeous we’ve ever seen. But our favorite? Definitely Jessica Chastain‘s elegant, understated glamour.

Makeup artist Kristofer Buckle created this beautiful, soft look for his long-time client using makeup from his own collection, and we cannot get enough of it. He tells us how we can get this gorgeous red carpet-ready look.

“Jessica wore a gold sequin gown by Givenchy. The look is modern Rita Hayworth with strong references to the golden era of Hollywood,” said Kristofer. He created a warm, smoky eye by using the Kristofer Buckle Always Flawless Night to Day Palette ($48), focusing on shades of gold (at the inner corner and center of the eye) and taupe (blended at the outer corner and lightly across the crease) to recall the gold sequins of her showstopping dress.

Jessica’s naturally blonde brows were darkened slightly with Anastasia Brow Wiz Pencil ($21) in Taupe, a perfect cool-toned shade that didn’t compete with her gorgeous red hair. Kristofer used the iridescent coral blush from the Day to Night palette to add some subtle warmth to Jessica’s cheeks and really set off her radiant complexion. (Pro tip: a big, fluffy brush and a light hand are your best friends when it comes to blush application, especially if you’re using a bright color.)

Speaking of bright colors, we are OBSESSED with Jessica’s true red, matte lipstick—and would you believe us if we told you it costs five dollars? Kristofer used Colourpop Lippie Stix ($5) in Fighter for a long-lasting, non-drying pop of vibrant red that both recalled the theme of the Gala and echoed the Old Hollywood glamour of Chastain’s look.

The result? Simple, elegant makeup that enhances, rather than competes with, Jessica’s natural beauty. We’re in love.
