The Olympics are just two days away, and we can barely contain our excitement. Okay, maybe we’re not the most athletic, but who can say no to watching American swimmer Ryan Lochte in a speedo? That being said, we’ve decided to celebrate the games the only way we know how – with our makeup. So let’s skip the cliché flags and go for the gold. We admit gold isn’t usually a summer trend, but why not break a beauty rule every now and again?
Makeup Has Never Been So Peachy
Yves Saint Laurent ‘Dare to Glow’ Illuminator
Apply Yves Saint Laurent ‘Dare to Glow’ Illuminator ($28, Shop.nordstrom.com) at the cheekbones for a natural-looking shimmer and the perfect little boost of color to your bronzer. I’m always a little wary to use a product with a gel texture, but this illuminator blends evenly and leaves skin feeling soft.
Essie in Good As Gold
The new trend this summer is metallic manicures. While we’re still privy to our bright digits this season, we don’t mind changing it up a bit with Essie’s Good As Gold ($8, Target.com). It’s your classic gold hue, and with Essie’s perfect formula, it applies like a dream.
MAC Pigment in Old Gold
MAC has great pigments that provide a subtle or bold pop of color. Old Gold ($20, Maccosmetics.com) is a fun gold/green hybrid that I like to use as an extra coat on top of my black eyeliner. It’s enough color to be noticeable, without looking trashy.
Do you plan to try gold this summer?
