PSA: The dermatologist-beloved red light therapy mask Omnilux Contour Face Mask is on sale for Black Friday! Read our full review and snag it while it’s discounted.
Red light therapy masks are taking over skincare routines in 2025—and for good reason. According to board-certified dermatologist Dr. Dendy Engelman, red light technology can be extremely beneficial for skin health, especially for concerns like fine lines and wrinkles, when used consistently over time. While there are many LED mask options to consider, the Omnilux Contour Face Mask is often spotlighted by beauty editors and dermatologists alike. I decided to put it to the test to see if it’s worth the hype—and spoiler: it totally is.

The Omnilux Contour Face is an FDA-cleared red light therapy mask designed to target common signs of aging like wrinkles, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation while promoting a glowing complexion. “It helps increase circulation, stimulate collagen production, minimize fine lines and wrinkles, balance skin tone and texture, reduce inflammation, and support overall skin rejuvenation,” Dr. Engelman explains. “One of the things I really love about LED therapy is that it only needs to be used for several minutes per day to see noticeable results in just a few months.”
It’s constructed from a soft and flexible silicone material that feels comfortable on (unlike some of the rock-hard plastic options out there). While it requires a cord connected to a power bank during use, the device doesn’t need to be plugged into the wall to use it—making it much easier to lounge on your bed or couch with it on.

I was most impressed by the overall design, material, and fit, especially after recently trying a hard plastic mask. Plus, you only need to commit to 10-minute treatments three to five times a week for the first month and a half. After that, you can simply incorporate the mask into your routine for maintenance as needed. Compared to other, more time-consuming high-tech treatments I’ve tried, this felt much more doable.
After completing the initial treatment phase, I noticed my skin looked more glowy compared to when I first started. However, I’ll need to use it longer to see more substantial benefits, like softened fine lines, reduced wrinkles, and faded hyperpigmentation. As with most red light therapy devices, consistency is key, so I’m planning to ramp up my treatments to five times per week moving forward.
Along with seeing some skin changes, I experienced additional benefits, too. Each 10-minute session was super relaxing and had a grounding and meditative effect on my body; I felt more relaxed and less stressed, a perk I wasn’t expecting to experience.
While I found the mask generally easy to wear, I wish it had a third strap that stretched across the top of the head for an even more snug fit. I like to double up on my wellness practices and use my red light face mask while meditating, but without a top strap, it feels a little less secure when sitting upright.
The Omnilux Contour Face mask has the clinical results to back up its claims. According to clinical studies, 98% of users experienced brighter and more plumper-looking skin after six weeks of use. Users also experienced much less redness and firmer, smoother complexions. Some, in align with my own experience, reported more glowing skin, too.
While I’ll need more than a month to see the full results, I don’t see that as a flaw in the product or the technology behind it. As a born-and-raised Southern Californian, I have a lot of sun damage on my complexion, and it can take more time to reverse the hyperpigmentation and fine lines I’ve accumulated. Still, I was thoroughly impressed by the overall design and early benefits, so I’ll definitely be using the mask more regularly—especially since my typically dry, dull skin looked more radiant.
The Omnliux mask comes highly recommended by experts. “Many dermatologists, including myself, recommend Omnilux masks,” says Dr. Engelman. “The brand is FDA-cleared and uses very powerful technology that is backed by research, making it a trusted option for at-home red light therapy treatments.” Dr. Engelman says she also loves the flexible design that wraps around the face for a more comfortable fit.
Red light therapy is beneficial for most people, however, Dr. Engelman says there are certain cases in which Omnilux and other red-light therapy devices should be avoided. “Those who are photosensitive or epileptic should avoid LED therapy masks or consult a healthcare professional before using them,” she explains. Additionally, if you have any active skin infections or open wounds, Dr. Engelman says to skip using the mask until everything is healed to prevent bacteria transfer.
