One reason fans resonate with Alix Earle is because she’s not afraid to be honest about her struggles with acne. For most of us, social media can be extremely polarizing—so it’s comforting to know that the people we follow online go through the same things we do. Although this isn’t the first time Alix opened up about her skincare journey, her recent Instagram post is inspiring her followers to let their skin breathe—no matter how scary it might be.

Just yesterday, Alix got candid on Instagram about ditching face makeup for a week. For those of us who have dealt with acne and other skin problems, makeup seems like an easy way to temporarily make it go away. But as most dermatologists will tell you, covering skin imperfections with high-coverage products often only makes the problem worse—prolonging the process and causing even more irritation. While Alix admits she once relied on makeup to feel confident during a breakout, she’s now prioritizing her skin’s health and unapologetically showing off her real skin.

In her caption, Alix mentions how makeup once was a way for her to feel confident—but while dealing with an outbreak and getting extractions to clean out her pores, she decided to ditch face makeup altogether. For many of us, including Alix, there’s nothing more intimidating than facing the world without foundation. Alix mentions that she was once petrified of the thought of people judging her skin, but she came to the realization that no one cares or even notices. “Real skin is beautiful,” she ended the post with.

In 2025, ditching your makeup bag is more celebrated than ever. Whether it’s sporting a minimal makeup look that emphasizes your natural skin, or ditching your entire routine altogether like Pamela Anderson—being fresh-faced is so in. Alix Earle is proving that acne should never diminish your confidence, especially because everyone has struggled with skin issues at one point or another.
