At-Home Summertime Facials

Turn to your kitchen for a fast fix for your fabulous face.

During this time of year our complexions can get a little clogged up and dirty. Although you may wash your face every night, traces of self-tanner, mattifying lotions and too much oil from all the heat and humidity can take away from your beautiful summer glow. To polish up your skin, scrub your face every other day in the summertime with a little white sugar in the shower to eliminate the dry flaky patches. Then, turn to your kitchen for a fast fix for your fabulous face.

You can save time and money by not fussing over having to book appointments or shelling out cold hard cash for pricey services (tip not included). All you need to do is create summertime facials with things you have in your kitchen to tighten the skin, unclog those pores and get glowing skin using fresh and natural ingredients.

To eliminate black heads or clogged pores, try the “Strawberry Drawing Mask.” Mash up half a cup of very ripe strawberries. Then, mix the strawberries with a quarter cup of cornstarch to create a paste. Apply the paste to the face for 30 minutes and then rinse off with cool water.

To tighten the skin, try the “Peach Tightening Mask.” Pit and peel one ripe peach, then whip it together with one egg white in a blender until it is smooth. Gently pat the mixture over your face and neck and let it set for 30 minutes, then rinse off with cool water.

If it’s moisture your skin craves, go for the “Avocado Face Mask.” Scoop out one ripe avocado (make sure to save the pit) and mash it into a paste. Smooth the avocado over the skin, using the pit to massage it in with upward circular motions. Let the vitamin E-rich avocado sit on your skin for 10 minutes, then wash it off with warm water and a washcloth.

For really oily-skinned ladies try the “Cucumber Mask.” Take half a cucumber, one egg white, one tablespoon of lemon juice and one tablespoon of mint. Puree everything together, and then let it sit in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes. Apply to your face for 15 minutes, and allow this cool concoction to sooth your face. Then, rinse with warm water followed by cool water. Now you’ve got your summertime glow back, so slather on that SPF, throw on a hat and keep it gorgeous!
