It’s probably the most asked question by any person who loves to share their Spotify Wrapped. When does Spotify start and stop tracking your music to gather information for your Wrapped? It’s not as complicated as you would think!
Spotify Wrapped 2024 came out on December 4 to overwhelming anticipation. People on social media were scrambling to find the exact date and trying to pack in as many streams as they could for their favorite artists and songs to make it to the top of their list. Spotify Wrapped is so serious for these music lovers that they create a game plan for when to track their favorite tunes. Here’s how you can create your own game plan so that you can expect what to appear on your Wrapped next year.

Spotify Wrapped starts counting your streams in January. Ring in the new year with your favorite songs and podcasts and maybe you’ll see them in your Wrapped!
As for when the Spotify team will work on next year’s Wrapped, the Spotify team said during their Wrapped press briefing: “It’s already started for next year.” Senior Director of Matt Luhks said, “It’s a real cross-cultural effort. We have a diverse team from marketing, products, music, podcasts, audiobooks, coming together to figure out how we can take Wrapped to the next level each year.”
Contrary to popular belief, Spotify doesn’t stop tracking music for Spotify Wrapped on Halloween aka October 31. The official Spotify account tweeted in response to a now-deleted PopBase post, “Hmm, that doesn’t sound right to us. Don’t worry, Wrapped is still counting past Oct. 31.” Your Christmas listening won’t be counted, but your post-spooky vibes playlist will.
As well as your top artist, songs, and how many minutes you listened to music. Here’s what else 2024’s Spotify Wrapped will show you.
