But there’s been other roles too, which have earned him a place in people’s collective consciousness, including Ali, Dreamgirls, Django Unchained, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Collateral, for which he was also nominated for an Oscar. Who are Jamie Foxx’s sisters Deidra and DeOndra?
Jamie Foxx has two sisters, Deidra Dixon and the late DeOndra Dixon. The three were raised by their mother Louise Annette Dixon, and Foxx’s stepfather, George Dixon, in Terrell, Texas. In the 1990s Foxx moved to California to pursue his acting career. His sisters both moved in with him afterward. “Moving my family in with me is nothing but nonstop laughter and kickin’ it and a little work,” Foxx told PEOPLE in 2011.
Foxx’s older sister, Deidra, is a makeup artist and hair stylist who has worked extensively in the entertainment industry, particularly with her brother in movies like Baby Driver and Django Unchained. She is also a painter, who regularly posts her work on Instagram. Younger sister DeOndra, who was born with Down syndrome, served as an ambassador for the Global Down Syndrome Foundation and was a Special Olympics athlete.

When DeOndra passed away in October of 2020 Foxx posted a tribute to his sister on Instagram, “My beautiful loving sister Deondra has transitioned…,” he wrote “I say transitioned because she will always be alive… anyone who knew my sis… knew that she was a bright light…”
After her death the family crated a fund to honor her, the DeOndra Dixon Research Fund. The initiative aims to fund research and “focus on the often-neglected population of African Americans with Down syndrome.”
In 2023, after Foxx suffered a medical scare that he recently revealed was a brain bleed that caused a stroke, his sister Deidra was right by his side. On an Instagram post months later the actor posted an emotional tribute for her birthday that said he “wouldn’t be here” without her. “Had you not made the decisions that you made I would’ve lost my life,” the post read.
Then, in August 2024, Foxx went on to repeat the sentiment on Instagram, saying “I repeat you saved my life!!!!!! I am forever grateful for you and today.”
