Joe Burrow probably has enough going on that he doesn’t want people to focus on his personal life. The Cincinnati Bengals QB has to contend with his team having a not-so-great season in a very strong division in the AFC North, but also with the fact that despite Burrow being as solid as he can be, his team just hasn’t done enough to support him. So girlfriend troubles should really be the last thing on Burrow’s mind.

Except when people try to break into your house and the person reporting it isn’t your longtime girlfriend but someone else, that’s going to cause girlfriend troubles. Or at least, the suggestion of girlfriend troubles. And that’s exactly what just happened to Burrow.

According to TMZ Sports, there was a break-in at Burrow’s Cincinnati mansion. The burglary was reported not by the QB’s longtime girlfriend Olivia Holzmacher, but by a different Olivia, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Olivia Ponton. She reportedly noticed a shattered window and a room ransacked when she arrived on the property around 8 pm on Monday.

Why was Ponton at Burrow’s house? Where was his girlfriend, Olivia Holzmacher? Did Burrow cheat on Holzmacher with Ponton? Here’s what we know.

Did Joe Burrow cheat on his girlfriend with Olivia Ponton?

There’s no clear answer to the question. According to documents from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Ponton wasn’t at Burrow’s home in a personal capacity, instead, she reported she was ’employed by Mr. Burrow’ and provided police with a ‘a non-detailed itemization of what items were possibly missing.’ So, whether it’s certainly possible that the two are in a relationship and are just keeping it on the down low, they are not confirming anything right now, and the official story seems to be that their relationship is strictly professional.

Burrow himself addressed the controversy during a press conference on December 11, saying, “So obviously everybody has heard what has happened. I feel like my privacy has been violated in more ways than one. And way more is already out there than I would want out there and that I care to share, so that’s all I got to say about that.” Not a confirmation that he and Ponton are dating, but certainly not a straight-up denial, which he could have very easily given.

The QB also talked a little more in depth about how his job made his private life anything but private. “We live a public life and one of my least favorite parts of that is the lack of privacy. And that has been difficult for me to deal with my entire career. Still learning. But I understand it’s the life that we choose. Doesn’t make it any easier to deal with.”

As for Holzmacher, she and Burrow had been in a relationship since Burrow was in Ohio State and first went public with their romance way back in 2017, so it is understandable that people had become attached to the idea of the two of them together. Last year, former Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones even claimed the two were engaged while appearing on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee show, but neither Burrow nor Holzmacher ever confirmed the news. Around the same time, however, fans caught Holzmacher wearing what seemed to be an engagement ring, so that felt like as much of a confirmation that an engagement was on as fans were ever going to get.

However, the two have not been seen together since Holzmacher shared a picture of them in January. That’s a pretty long time, which has led people to speculate the two have broken up. It would not be the first time an NFL player breaks up with their college girlfriend after making it big in the NFL, after all.

When Ponton arrived at Burrow’s house to find it trashed, she called her mother Diane, who then called the police. “[Olivia] is wondering what she should do, if she should be hiding or if she should be going outside,” she can be heard saying on the call. On a separate call, Ponton herself says, “Someone broke into my house… It’s like completely messed up.”

Earlier this year the NFL had issued a security alert after burglaries at the homes of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
