Patrick & Brittany Mahomes’ Baby Name for No. 3 Follows a Very Particular Pattern
Congratulations are in order for the Mahomes! Brittany and Patrick Mahomes just welcomed their third child together on January 12, 2025, and their little one’s name has such a beautiful meaning.
The current Super Bowl champion and his wife announced that they were expecting on July 12, 2024. The Kansas City Chiefs power couple took to Instagram with an adorable Reel. The video featured the soon-to-be parents of three, along with their daughter Sterling Skye, 3, and son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, 18 months, all decked out in white for a family photoshoot. The clip showed the family smiling, full of laughter, and breaking out into some dance moves. As they all goofed off, the couple also proudly displayed some ultrasound images of their newest addition. “Round three, here we come 🤍,” the couple captioned the heartwarming announcement.

What’s the meaning behind Brittany & Patrick Mahomes’ baby’s name?
The couple took to Instagram to announce their daughter Golden Raye’s birth. “•Golden Raye Mahomes•
1/12/25🎀✨” they captioned the joint Instagram post, which included their baby’s feet and a wooden board with the baby’s name on it. Golden follows the pattern of naming their children after certain metals or medals. Sterling refers to silver, Patrick “Bronze” refers to bronze, and understandably Golden refers to Gold. They also named their dogs Silver and Steel.
Brittany explained why she started the pattern in an Instagram story. “What’s the thought behind naming your dogs and children after elements?” read the question from the fan in a post captured by People in 2023. Mahomes jokingly replied: “Lol glad you ask.”
“I got Steel in college and named him that,” she began, referring to the couple’s older dog. “We then got our second dog and was gonna name her Sterling because it went with Steel perfect.”
“Then I said no, I want that to be my daughter’s name, so then we came up with Silver to go with Steel,” the WAG continued, adding that she and her husband were “already set on Sterling” by the time they welcomed their daughter in February 2021.
“Then having a boy and him being Patrick Mahomes III, Bronze was just meant to be and went perfect,” she concluded.
As for the little one’s middle name, Raye means “advice or protection.” Golden Raye also has a great ring to it, like a golden ray of sunshine.
