Billy Ray Cyrus‘ recent performance is causing concern for his family members. The “Achy Breaky Heart” performed a cringeworthy version of his hit at one of Donald Trump’s Inauguration events, and many people pointed out that the artist doesn’t look his best.
One of those people includes his adopted son Trace Cyrus, who posted a long message for his father. “Since my earliest memories, all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever. I wanted to be just like you. The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life,” Trace wrote in his lengthy Instagram caption. “Sadly the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now. It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you.”

The Metro Station frontman continued adding that his sisters Brandi, Miley, and Noah are all distressed about the situation. “Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed all of us away,” he wrote. “Noah desperately has wanted you to be a part of her life and you haven’t even been there for her. That’s your baby girl. She deserves better. Somehow just like me she still idolizes you though. We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew & hoping for the day he returns.”
Billy Ray Cyrus hasn’t addressed what happened to him, but his family has pointed out that he doesn’t look healthy. “You’re not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it,” Trace wrote. “Just like I showed up for you at mamaws funeral when you didn’t expect me to I’m still here right now. As I write this with tears in my eyes I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon.”
The whole family hasn’t talked to the hitmaker in years, but they’re willing to offer support. “We haven’t talked in a while but I’m over a year and half clean from alcohol. Guess what? I feel amazing.. I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly but I think I have a pretty good idea & I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help.”
During his Inauguration performance, Billy Ray seemed to stumble through his performance with major technical difficulties. “Check? Is anybody awake,” Billy asked, looking around for help. “Y’all want me to sing more or you want me to just get the hell off the stage?”
“In life, when you have technical difficulties, you just gotta keep going,” he assured the audience, “or as President Trump would say, ‘You gotta fight.'”
After their parents’ divorce, Miley Cyrus seemed to take sides with her mother Tish. When she won her first Grammy award in 2024, she thanked her mom, her love, and her stylists. “I don’t think I forgot anyone — but I might have forgotten underwear. Bye!” On David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction…, she confessed that she “inherited the narcissism” from Billy Ray, but loves her mother entirely.
