SZA, whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe, is set to appear alongside Kendrick Lamar in the Super Bowl Halftime show. Not just that, she’s set to join Lamar on the Grand National Tour, starting in April 2025. The tour is set to off at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and cover the United States and Canada with multiple shows. It will run until June.

Most people, however, don’t know SZA just because of her multiple collaborations with Kendric Lamar. The singer-songwriter has earned her spot in the music business, and in her very successful career, has received five Grammy Awards and two Billboard Women in Music awards, including Woman of the Year. She’s also co-written songs for artists such as Nicki MinajBeyoncé, Travis Scott, Schoolboy Q, and Rihanna.

That all adds up to a pretty successful career. But how successful? How much has SZA earned through her singing and songwriting? What is SZA’s net worth? And how much did she get paid for the Super Bowl?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, SZA’s net worth is approximately $12 million dollars. That might not feel like a lot compared to the $140 million Kendrick Lamar is reportedly worth, but it’s nothing to scoff at either.

Her net worth comes from her singing career, which includes EPs “See.SZA.Run” and “S,” as well as EP “Z,” which spawned singles “Babylon,” featuring Kendrick Lamar, and “Child’s Play,” featuring Chance the Rapper. She also released an album titled “Ctrl,” and collaborated with artists like Rihanna, on the song “Consideration,” Travis Scott on the song “Love Galore,” Maroon 5 on the song “What Lovers Do” and Kendrick Lamar once again for the song “All the Stars” from Black Panther. She’s also collaborated with artists like Cardi B and Justin Timberlake, as well as writing songs for several others.

If you add to that the multiple awards she’s received, it’s clear SZA is a very well-regarded, and therefore well-paid entertainer. So, how has that affected her Super Bowl payday? How much is she getting paid for appearing in the Super Bowl Halftime Show? The surprising answer is nothing.

“We do not pay the artists,” NFL spokesperson Joanna Hunter told Forbes in 2016. “We cover expenses and production costs.” This has always been the case, so think back to Super Bowl Halftime Shows of the past. None of those artists have been paid. SZA and Kendrick Lamar won’t be the exception when they appear mid-game during Super Bowl LIX.

Despite that fact that artists don’t get paid for appearing in the Super Bowl Halftime show, it is considered a great honor to be asked. “The halftime show at the Super Bowl remains a highly coveted spot for many artists,” Lori Landew, and entertainment attorney, explained to Forbes in 2019. “Some of those artists do not see their appearance as a political statement, nor do they see the show as a cultural battleground, but rather view their live performance as an opportunity to entertain an enthusiastic crowd and to share their music and their talent with millions of viewers.”
