With the Kansas City Chiefs playing in the biggest NFL game of the year—and going on to lose against the Philadelphia Eagles 40-22, a lot of the narrative about the game was about the players involved. That included Patrick Mahomes, the KC quarterback who was hoping to lead his team to his third Super Bowl in a row, Jalen Hurts, the Eagles QB who was hoping to stop him, and of course, Chiefs TE Travis Kelce, who has become famous not just for his play, but for dating superstar Taylor Swift.

But a particular question asked before the game to all three of these players led to a conversation that had nothing to do with the game. During their press duties in the days before the Super Bowl, players from both teams were asked about U.S. President Donald Trump’s attendance at the game.

Trump became the first sitting President to attend the game, though he was said to have left in the third quarter when the Chiefs were still scoreless and the game seemed lost.

Considering Trump has repeatedly criticized Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, a lot of people wondered about Kelce’s answer to the question. Is Travis Kelce a Trump supporter. What did he have to say about the President being at the Super Bowl?

Kelce hasn’t come out as either a Democrat or Republican, but in November of last year, he liked a post endorsing Kamala Harris for President. The post was made by Amanda Santa, the girlfriend of his manager, Aaron Eanes. However, when asked about Trump attending the Super Bowl, Kelce’s response was very diplomatic.

“It’s awesome. It’s a great honor, I think, no matter who the president is,” Kelce said. ‘I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life and having the president there — it’s the best country in the world — and that’s pretty cool.”

Fans speculated that might have caused problems with his girlfriend, who Trump has been vocally against, but an insider told The Daily Mail, that it was not so. “He never actually even said the word Trump. Travis was speaking on behalf of his entire team and all of his fans when he said it is an honor to have the President of the United States at the game and he would have said the same thing regardless of who the president was.”

The source went on to add, “So no, there is no fight, no argument and no blowout over this. Taylor is just so proud of Travis and cannot wait to be there to support him.”

Swift unequivocally endorsed Kamala Harris during the 2024 election and has spoken out about Donald Trump. Kelce has, in his career as a public figure, supported many initiatives seen as left-leaning, including the COVID-19 vaccine. He, however, has stayed clear of endorsing any candidate personally or expressing any partisan political views.

After the Super Bowl, Trump once again attacked Swift. “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift,” Trump wrote. “She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!” And according to the Daily Mail, her boyfriend is none too pleased with this reaction from the President.

“Travis believes that it was unnecessary for Trump to take a dig at her especially after he voiced that he was honored for a president to be there,” a source told The Daily Mail. Kelce was apparently also upset Swift was booed, with the source saying, “He always protects her and it broke his heart. He was already having a tough night and the fact that the stadium was predominantly Eagles fans didn’t help. Travis knows that this hurt her and anyone can see this.”

It doesn’t look like Kelce has ever been a Trump supporter, and it looks unlikely he will ever be now, with the President continuously attacking his girlfriend.
