The It Ends With Us saga is like the gift it keeps on giving. On the heels of Blake Lively filing an amended complaint against Justin Baldoni to include two other women who reportedly had uncomfortable experiences with Baldoni or his Wayfarer Studios partner Jamey Heath, a newly resurfaced interview has brought Taylor Swift’s alleged involvement in the movie back to the forefront.

A recap of the drama: Lively filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Baldoni, producer Jamey Heath, and publicists Melissa Nathan and Jennifer Abel at the end of last year. Baldoni counteracted with a lawsuit accusing Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds of civil extortion, defamation, and invasion of privacy. Then Lively filed the amended lawsuit, with The Hollywood Reporter reporting that the two women in the amended complaint are actresses Jenny Slate and Isabela Ferrer. Ferrer plays the younger version of Blake Lively’s character, Lily Bloom, in the film.

But what was Taylor Swift’s role in the production of It Ends With Us before the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni drama? And how’s her friendship with Blake Lively doing these days?

A resurfaced interview with Ferrer from the August 6 premiere of It Ends With Us makes it seem like Swift’s role in the casting of the movie was much bigger than previously thought. In the interview, the actress tells Extra Swift was involved in Ferrer landing the role. “Yes, she did. I don’t even know if I’m supposed to be saying it, but I’m saying it!”

The actress also added that she “found out later after she got it” that Swift had been a “helpful part of the process of the audition,” something Ferrer was very excited about. “That rocked my world. I have no words.”

Ferrer, however, wasn’t the only one who talked about Swift’s involvement in casting, with Justin Baldoni himself telling Access Hollywood, “I had actually brought in and showed her casting tape to Blake and Taylor and they were both, like, ‘Yes! Her’. And that’s a true story.” TMZ, however, has reported this did not happen and that reports it did are part of the reason for the rift between Swift and Lively.

In his lawsuit, Baldoni accused Lively of threatening to reach out to Swift so she revoked her permission for the studio to use her song, ‘My Tears Ricochet’ for the trailer of the movie. Lively denied the allegations.

Perhaps all of this combined is why the Baldoni and Lively drama seems to have caused at least a temporary issue between Lively and Swift, who have been friends for a decade. Reports indicate Swift also wasn’t happy about a text message Lively sent to Baldoni where she called herself “Khalessi” and said she had “a few dragons,” referencing Swift and her husband Ryan Reynolds.

This, according to The Daily Mail, caused a shift in the Swift and Lively friendship, to the point that Lively did not attend this year’s Super Bowl with Swift, like she did in 2024.  “Right now, while they’re still close, there’s a slight shift because of the It Ends With Us drama. Taylor doesn’t like the fact that she’s been dragged into it. For the time being she is taking a step back from Blake because she doesn’t want to get tangled in this more than she already has – which is far more than she ever needed to be.”

However, a source close to Blake told TMZ the two still “talk regularly,” and that Swift was upset about being involved and the “dragons” remark, but Lively has since apologized and the two have made up.
