Trachtenberg was found dead on February 26, 2025, in New York City. She was 39. Her death is not deemed suspicious, per officials. ‘Upon arrival, officers observed a 39-year-old female unconscious and unresponsive. EMS responded to the location and pronounced the victim deceased,” EMS officials reported to Daily Mail.

Michelle Trachtenberg’s family opted to not do an autopsy on her body. According to ABC News, there is no suspicion of foul play or criminality associated with the actress’s death, and the medical examiner did not overrule the family’s objection and limited the investigation to an external examination. Her family objected due to religious reasons.
Trachtenberg’s mother found her unconscious in her room and contacted emergency officials. ABC News reported that Michelle Trachtenberg had a liver transplant in the months leading up to her death. TMZ also reported that officials said that her body could have rejected the liver which led to complications.
Sources told People that Trachtenberg was not in high spirits in the months after the procedure. Friends who were close to her said that she “really down emotionally” and had “health issues.”
“She told friends she was struggling,” the source told the site. “She was really, really sick and open with those in her circle about how much she was struggling.”
