Warning: The Bachelor Season 29 spoilers ahead. After weeks of dates, roses, and drama, Grant is almost down to his final one. But does Grant get engaged on The Bachelor Season 29 and where are he and his winner now? Well, there may already be drama behind the scenes.
Grant Ellis, a 31-year-old Day Trader from Newark, New Jersey from Newark, New Jersey, is the lead of The Bachelor Season 29. He was originally a contestant on The Bachelorette Season 21 with Jenn Tran, where he was sent home in Week 7. Grant was announced as the next Bachelor on Good Morning America in August 2024, which made him the second Black Bachelor and sixth Black lead in Bachelor Nation history.

In an interview with Bustle ahead of his Bachelor season’s premiere, Grant teased that the feelings with him dating multiple women throughout his season was a “theme” on Season 29, but not necessarily for his winner.
“One theme of the season is that the women knew how great they were. Everybody in the house got along. Everyone was smart, witty, and beautiful. They knew dating multiple people wasn’t normal, and it would be a hard decision for me,” he said. “Reassurance comes with time, and you have to prove that to somebody through affection and showing them that you’re thinking about them. So I don’t think it’ll be an issue, but if it is, it will heal over time.”

Grant got engaged to Juliana Pasquarosa, a 28-year-old Client Service Associate, from Newton, Massachusetts, in The Bachelor Season 29 finale, according to Reality Steve. (His runner-up was Litia Garr, a 31-year-old Venture Capitalist from Star Valley, Wyoming, while his third-place finalist was Zoe McGrady, a 27-year-old Tech Engineer and Model from Chester, Virginia.)
While Juliana won The Bachelor Season 29 and got engaged to Grant, host Jesse Palmer seemed to confirm in an interview with Us Weekly in January 2025 that he didn’t know whether to choose his winner or his runner-up in the last minute.
“It’s real,” Jesse said of the moment, which is teased in the trailer. “And I don’t know if you could tell from watching that from my reaction, [but] I was surprised. That was something that I haven’t encountered yet as the host in the last four years on any of the franchises. Normally, I think, our leads have a little bit more clarity — a lot more clarity — heading into the final day. And I really think that’s how conflicted Grant really was.”
He continued, “They’re phenomenal every year for whoever our lead is [and] making that decision on the final day is always a very, very difficult decision, but I can appreciate some of why Grant was so conflicted. I’ll just say that. But absolutely without giving away too much, that was authentic and it’s real and it’s not an edit.”
Before The Bachelor Season 29 finale aired, fans speculated that Grant wanted to choose Litia as his winner, however, her Mormon religion, which he learned about during their first one-on-one date, stopped him. “It’s clear he really like Litia but the Mormon/religion thing is stopping him from going all in. We’ll see how it plays out,” a user wrote on Reddit.
Grant seemed to deny Jesse’s assertion that his decision between his winner and runner-up was down the last minute in an interview with Us Weekly in March 2025, in which he hinted that he knew who he wanted to propose to during Hometown Dates. “I, honestly, was 100 percent sure because that’s what I came there for. I knew I was going to make things work,” he said. He went on to explain that his choice between his winner and runner-up “definitely wasn’t [down to] one hour.” Instead, the moment of indecision seen in the trailer was due to “external factors” that caused him to take a pause.
“I’ve always been a really decisive person in terms of my career and everything in that field. … In high school, I was a star athlete and had to decide what college I went to, what major,” he said.
It’s not uncommon for Bachelor or Bachelorette winners to feel hurt after learning how close a lead’s decision was between them and someone else. In an interview with People in 2017, Lauren Bushnell, who won The Bachelor Season 20 with Ben Higgins, opened up about the “hurt” she felt watching the finale and seeing her now-ex-fiance Ben profess his love for his runner-up before Lauren and Ben’s engagement. “I don’t think I’ve ever talked about how hurtful that was,” Lauren said. “I always try to be really strong because I wanted to move forward from it. But because I wanted to move forward from it, I don’t think I ever really opened up about how hard that was just in terms of, like, I wanted to make that decision to get engaged one time in my life and I felt like I wasn’t told everything that had happened.”
Lauren also confessed that what happened in the finale continued to affect her and Ben’s relationship for months to come. The two later split in May 2017. “When The Bachelor aired, reliving that months later wasn’t ideal either,” she said. “I was still like, ‘We’re going to move forward from this,’ but then the press, that’s what everybody wanted to talk about. I’ve never shared with anyone, except for Ben, how hurtful that situation was and how hard it is to continually talk about it over and over again when you’re trying to start a life with someone.”
She continued, “Looking back, I wish I could be like, ‘That’s why it didn’t work out,’ but I think it was just a very abnormal situation and one that unfortunately. I mean we tried.”
It’s unclear how Juliana felt about The Bachelor editing the finale to seem like Grant was this close to choosing Litia, but if Lauren and Ben’s relationship is any example, it’s possible that she felt similar, which may have been the reason for Grant’s interview suggesting that he knew he was going to choose back at Hometown Dates.
Neil Lane, a celebrity jeweler, who has created engagement rings for The Bachelor, The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise since 2008, most likely designed Grant’s ring to Juliana on The Bachelor Season 29. Ex-host Chris Harrison told Entertainment Weekly in 2016 that engaged Bachelor Nation couples need to stay together for a set amount of time after their engagements to keep their free engagement ring from Lane. If they break up before that time, they must return it. “There’s some rule, after a certain number of years, you get to keep it anyway,” he said. “But after months… it goes back.”
Lane also told StyleCaster in 2016 that he doesn’t know where failed engagement rings go, but he makes each one with the intention that the couple stays together. “I make rings hoping that people stay together forever, but after they get the ring, I don’t have a say in it, and what happens after that, I don’t know,” he said. “Where the ring goes, I have to say, I don’t really know. I just say it goes to ring heaven.”
