CARATs are sending lots of love to Wonwoo! The SEVENTEEN member just announced his mandatory South Korean military enlistment date and fans are pouring out endless support.
On March 5, 2025, SEVENTEEN’s Company PLEDIS Entertainment made the announcement on the fan social app Weverse. “We would like to share the news that WONWOO of SEVENTEEN will be starting his mandatory military service from April 3 this year,” they wrote. “There will be no official event on the day of his enlistment, and we kindly request that you refrain from visiting the site of his alternative military service. Please send your heartfelt messages of support for WONWOO through Weverse.”

Wonwoo is the second member of SEVENTEEN to enlist after Jeonghan. Woozi and Hoshi, who are debuting their new subunit soon, are also expected to enlist sometime this year since they will be turning 30 in 2026.

Wonwoo is expected to come back from the military in January 2027. Wonwoo will be doing alternative military service which is longer than normal combat military service which is usually 16 months. Individuals who cannot carry out normal combat service can instead carry out their duties at non-military facilities such as welfare centers, community service centers, and post offices for 21 months.
Wonwoo just returned back from his London Fashion Week debut during Burberry’s Fall Fashion Show. According to PLEDIS Entertainment, the K-pop star will not be in attendance for SEVENTEEN’s headlining set at Mexico’s Tecate Pa’l Norte music festival and their fanmeeting in Japan, which will take a couple days after his enlistment.
However, Wonwoo will participate in their scheduled “SEVENTEEN in CARAT LAND” concert on March 20 to 21 and will be appearing in various pre-recorded content.
