Michelle Obama is spilling her unfiltered thoughts in her new podcast. The former first lady just launched IMO with her older brother Craig Robinson, where they tackle life’s toughest subjects.
“There is no single way to deal with the challenges we may be facing—whether it’s family, faith, or our personal relationships—but taking the time to open up and talk about these issues can provide hope,” Michelle said in a press release.

“Let’s be real: we are living through some really complicated and confusing times, and people are feeling more alone than ever,” Michelle says in the trailer for the podcast titled IMO, short for In My Opinion. “But I’ve learned that if you’re feeling a certain kind of way, the reality is that others are probably feeling that way too, and when you take the time to be just a little vulnerable and open up about it, it’s a whole lot easier to find the answers you’re looking for.”
It’s no wonder that Michelle Obama has been keeping a low-key profile for the past couple of months, because now she’s in full force discussing adult friendships, divorce, and relationships with her brother and special guests.
In the first episode of IMO, she discusses with her brother their early years in their tiny childhood home in Chicago, through their college years at Princeton, and adulthood. Michelle also talked about how Craig was the one to convince her to support Barack’s presidential run.
“[Barack] was smart enough to know that he needed to come to you and sell you on the idea,” Michelle recalled adding that she initially thought, “We’ve done enough crazy stuff.”
“I convinced you to not penalize him for being really good at what he does,” Craig said.
Michelle also added that her brother’s support helped her through the two terms. “I couldn’t have gotten through eight years in the White House without my big brother.”
The former first lady also confessed to her brother that it hurt her when he kept his divorce secret. Craig has since remarried. Michelle is also the subject of divorce rumors after they started to swirl when Barack Obama attended President Donald Trump’s inauguration and former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral solo. Even Jennifer Aniston was roped into the rumors. The Friends actress was rumored to be dating Barack but she denied the claim on Jimmy Kimmel Live! saying, “I know Michelle more than him!”
The former President seemingly squashed the rumors when he posted a Valentine’s tribute to his wife. “Thirty-two years together and you still take my breath away,” he wrote on X alongside a photo of the couple smiling. “Happy Valentine’s Day @michelleobama.”
Michelle also added that she doesn’t want to follow in her husband’s political footsteps but hopes to mentor people with the new podcast. “We had people who would share their opinions, give us advice. We had mentors. We were used to mentoring and being mentored. A lot of people don’t have that,” Michelle said. “They don’t feel comfortable being vulnerable or asking hard questions.”
“A lot of people out there are looking for guidance.” The podcast will also include guests like Issa Rae, Keke Palmer, and Dr. Orna Guralnik.
