It’s always scary to watch a game and see someone get sick or injured, but when it’s one of the athletes involved in the game, injuries are a part of the game. Not something we want to see, but sadly, it’s something that is somewhat common. It’s, however, so much harder to see attendees who are just there to have a good time get sick. That’s what happened to comedian and longtime New York Knicks fan Tracy Morgan, who had an unexpected medical emergency while attending the basketball team’s game on Monday, March 17.
The 56-year-old actor, who is better known for his roles on 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live, was seated courtside at Madison Square Garden when he suddenly began throwing up on the floor in the third quarter. The incident led to a brief delay as medical personnel rushed to assist. The Knicks were leading 64-58 at the moment, and the game was halted for nearly ten minutes while Morgan was escorted out and the area was cleaned. Afterward, the Knicks closed out the quarter on a 24-6 run and went on to win the game 116-95.
After pictures of the star throwing up courtside went viral on social media, fans sent their support to Tracy Morgan. “Prayers up for Tracy Morgan
.Threw up courtside watching the Knicks and Heat play and then was taken off in a wheel chair,” Robert Griffin III posted on X. Fellow Knicks fan Ben Stiller wrote on the social media platform, “Sending good thoughts to Tracy Morgan 💙”

But what happened to Morgan? What is his status now? Here’s everything we know.
Well, Morgan is just like us, and he can get sick like us. The actor explained on social media that he had a really bad case of food poisoning. “Thank you for all your concern! I’m doing OK now and doctors say it was food poisoning,” Morgan wrote on Instagram. “Appreciate my MSG family for taking such good care of me, and I need to shout out the crew that had to clean that up. Appreciate you!”
“More importantly, the Knicks are now 1-0 when I throw up on the court so maybe I’ll have to break it out again in the playoffs,” he added.
For those worried about what this means for Morgan’s chances of returning to watch games, where he is a regular, Madison Square Garden released a brief statement on Morgan on Tuesday morning. “We hope Tracy feels better soon,” the statement said, “and look forward to seeing him back courtside.”
Morgan has a complicated health history. In 2020, he underwent a life-saving kidney transplant due to complications from diabetes. Four years later, he was involved in a very serious car accident that left him in a coma for two weeks and caused a traumatic brain injury. Recently, Morgan spoke openly about his Ozempic use for weight loss.
