The controversy surrounding Disney’s Snow White movie crescendoed in the last few days before the film’s release. The live-action adaptation of the 1937 animated classic which sees Rachel Zegler step into the titular role, with Gal Gadot playing the Evil Queen, has been followed by rumors of a feud between the movie’s leads, and controversy surrounding Zegler’s comments on the film’s outdated story and vocal anti-Trump position as well as Gadot’s pro-IDF stance.
Zegler’s comments, in particular, seem to have been brought back to the light closer to the film’s release, particularly as Disney scaled back Snow White because the studio reportedly didn’t “know what to do” with Zegler.
“Disney’s lead actress is out of control,” a movie insider is said to have told the outlet. “They don’t know what to do … she’s an outspoken 20-something, and Disney chiefs have called her directly and asked her to tone down her posts. They’ve called her management, but she won’t listen. It’s been this way the entire way through filming. But it’s the tying of her politics to ‘Snow White’ that is upsetting.” There have been no such concerns reported about Gadot, who has been very vocally pro-Israel and who served in the IDF.

The answer is no. Rachel Zegler was not fired by Disney. She shot and completed Snow White and then completed the promo for the movie up to its premiere, which took place without press at the El Capitan Theater in Los Angeles on March 15, 2025. That means she couldn’t have been fired from it. Her job in the movie is and was done without any issues.
The rumors likely come from the limited promotion that was done for Snow White. The press tour was scaled back, as was the premiere, which was originally expected to be much larger, particularly for a live-action adaptation of such a popular character as Snow White.
