Rihanna Just Fueled Rumors She & A$AP Rocky Are Secretly Married a Month After He Called Her His ‘Wife’
At this point, we’re just going to believe there is something more than meets the eye. The relationship between Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, which officially started in 2019—though the two had been friends since 2012, has been rock solid for ages. That includes her giving birth to two sons, RZA and Riot. But the two have seemingly been happy to keep their relationship committed without actually making it legal so far. Or at least, that’s what we’ve thought.
There have been hints to the contrary, though. Plural. There was that staged proposal in A$AP Rocky’s 2022 music video for “D.M.B.” On it, the rapper bears a grill that reads, “Marry me?” and Rihanna responds with her own that says “I do.”
Plus, on the Met Gala 2023 red carpet, we saw Rihanna wear a stunning white Valentino gown with a voluminous floral cape. That, in and of itself would have been nothing, but when she tweeted about the occasion, she said, “shout outz 2 the bridal party….here come de bride #idoKARL#METgala2023.” And Rihanna surely knows what she’s doing, right?
But perhaps the most obvious hint came as the Savage X Fenty founder unveiled her lingerie brand’s new bridal collection on Instagram. On the pictures, Rihanna herself is seen with a large white wedding cake wearing a bustier, thong, stockings and of course, a veil.
“Here comes the bride! 💍🔥,” the brand captioned the shots.
A day before, the brand had teased the launch with a few wedding cake snaps, and a pink rose with an engagement ring around the stem, all of which had people wondering if this was just brand marketing or if this was a sign of a real announcement from its founder. Because, well… it feels pretty pointed.
“Ummmm is there an announcement coming soon,” one fan wrote in the comment section, while another asked, “Is this a hint!????”
“You trynna tell us something?” a third commented. “It’s a sign for sure,” added a fourth.
Speculation isn’t only about whether a possible wedding between Rihanna and A$AP Rocky is coming, but whether one already occurred and the two are just getting ready to announce it. That’s especially true since A$AP Rocky only last month referred to Rihanna as his wife in an interview with Mystery Fashionist, something that doesn’t really sound like a slip of the tongue.
“That’s my son—she my son,” A$AP Rocky said as he gushed about her. “Birds of a feather, flock together. I’m gonna ride till wheels fall off like she do. That’s my dog, that’s my n***a, that’s my bitch, that’s my wife, that’s my everything.”
Rihanna has also frequently said complimentary things about A$AP Rocky, most recently in the February cover story for Harper’s BAZAAR, where she shared that the “greatest thing” about him is “seeing him be a dad.”
“His pureness. His charm. I’m annoyed because my songs sometimes just live for him more than they live for me,” she said. “And I’m like, ‘Did you know who cooked you? Do you know who pushed you out?’ And they love him, but when I see it, oh, it’s the best.”
With A$AP Rocky set as one of the co-chairs of the Met Gala 2025, perhaps we’ll get an announcement about a possible wedding on the steps of The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 5. One can hope.
