Every day, there’s a new rumor about the British Royal Family. From rumblings that King Charles is hesitant to give up the throne to Prince William, to reports about the estrangement between Prince Harry and King Charles, and Prince Harry and Prince William. The drama is never-ending. But the stories don’t stop there. Ever since Kate Middleton had to step away from the spotlight for a significant period due to her cancer diagnosis, there has been speculation about her marriage to Prince William.

Was she really away due to her illness? Was she even ill? Were the two divorcing? The rumors have followed the couple until now, when plans are actively being made for King Charles’ possible succession. “The people I’ve spoken to have said that the succession planning, as they call it, began even before Charles’ diagnosis,” royal author Tom Quinn told Harper’s Bazaar recently. “I mean, he’s the oldest Prince of Wales to become king in history, so succession planning had begun before Charles came to the throne simply because of the age issue.”

All of this has certainly put a strain on Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s marriage as their 14th wedding anniversary nears. And how is the couple dealing with it? By going back to where they first met, according to People Magazine. The couple will spend two days in Scotland, starting April 29, the same date as their 2011 wedding.

The two arrived to the town of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull where they visited a community hub and an artisan market. The couple also met with some local families. Later in the day, the royals are expected to visit a local croft to learn about sustainable farming and hospitality on the island. On April 30, they will head to an ancient woodland to meet the Mull and Iona Ranger Service, which plays an important role in conservation, biodiversity protection and education on the islands. There’s nothing else on the agenda, so it is expected the two will spend some time alone together.

Prince William and Kate Middleton first met as students at the University of St. Andrews, and were friends before things turned romantic, which Prince William said was a “good sort of foundation” during their engagement interview in 2010.

On social media, the couple shared a message highlighting their visit.

“Prince William and Princess Catherine are heading to the Isle of Mull, just off the coast of Scotland,” British royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital. “They will spend the night of their wedding anniversary in a self-catered holiday cottage.”

“Their opting for modest accommodation, rather than a luxury hotel, is a metaphor for their relationship,” said Fordwich. “It’s uncomplicated, genuine and represents the way they like to do things, which is together without a lot of fuss and connected to rural life. They have an enduring connection to Scotland, from their university days together where they started as friends.”

This all comes after reports that Prince William had recently hired divorce lawyers. However, reports indicate William was merely transitioning to new lawyers, who just happen to be the same ones who represented Princess Diana in her divorce from King Charles. These lawyers also specialize in dispute resolution, private client & family law, real estate, and reputation protection, among other matters.

In fact, sources, tell the Daily Mail Prince William’s decision had absolutely nothing to do with his wife. ”William wanted to strike out on his own. He did not want to continue using his father’s lawyers. It’s as simple as that. He wants to be his own man.” And considering he’s now on an anniversary retreat with his wife, we can probably take their word for it.
