The Chances Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce Could Be Making Their Met Gala Debut Years After She Met Ex Joe Alwyn at the Event
The 2025 Met Gala is literally right around the corner, and speculation about who’s on the guest list has been buzzing for the past couple of days. The big ol’ question of whether Taylor Swift is attending the fashion fundraiser has been raised once again, and we’re getting to the bottom of this.
Swifties know how the Met Gala is imperative to her lore. It was the site where she danced with her Calvin Harris rebound, Tom Hiddleston, while also meeting Joe Alwyn for the first time…allegedly. She sang in “Dress” off of Reputation, “Flashback to when you met me / Your buzz cut and my hair bleached.” Joe Alwyn was notoriously sporting a buzz cut while Tay debuted her infamous bleached bob.
The 2025 Met Gala will be held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on May 5, 2025. This year’s theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which draw’s inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. This year, the event will be hosted by longtime Vogue editor-in-chief and Conde Nast chief global officer Anna Wintour, along with co-chairs Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams. Lebron James will serve as an honorary co-chair.
Is Taylor Swift attending the 2025 Met Gala?
It’s not completely known whether or not Taylor Swift will be attending this year’s Met Gala. The last time that she attended the fateful 2016 Met Gala and hasn’t attended it since.
After the completion of her record-breaking Eras Tour, Taylor is keeping it low-key with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. The radio silence has brought on breakup rumors, engagement rumors, and even pregnancy rumors, but rest assured, the couple just wants to take a break after their exhausting year. On April 29, 2025, a source told Page Six that the break was much needed. “They’re still so in love and enjoying spending time with their friends and each other during the offseason,” the source revealed. “There’s no trouble at all.”
It seems like Taylor’s schedule never really lined up with the First Monday in May. When she was still in her relationship with Joe Alwyn, she was reportedly spending time with him in Ireland and the UK. And in the last couple of years, she’s been prepping for the Eras Tour. Taylor also met Joe, as well as ex Tom Hiddleston at the Met Gala in 2016.
Meanwhile, her beau, Travis Kelce, hasn’t attended the Met Gala since starting his football career. The Super Bowl winner recently gushed about his love for LeBron James, who is this year’s honorary chair. In a recent episode of his podcast New Heights, he said he would trade lives with the Lakers player for 48 hours. “It was a dream I’ve had since I was a kid, and I would love to know what that dream actually feels like,” Kelce explained.
So, if Travis and Taylor could party with LeBron at the Met Gala this year, that would be a dream come true too.
