Amid all the legal drama, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds made a decision well in advance. That decision was whether they would attend the Met Gala in 2025.
The Met Gala is held every first Monday in May at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the theme for this year is Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” based on Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. The couple have made frequent appearances together at the event and Blake Lively even was a co-chair for the museum fundraiser in 2022.

However, a major event that has affected the couple was when Blake Lively filed a complaint against It Ends With Us co-star Baldoni, producer Jamey Heath, and publicists Melissa Nathan and Jennifer Abel on Dec. 31. The New York Times published an article titled “‘We Can Bury Anyone’: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine” including the allegations of sexual harrassment against the director. In turn, Baldoni filed a lawsuit against the newspaper seeking $40 million in damages. A court hearing is scheduled in March 2026.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are skipping out on the Met Gala this year, according to sources to TMZ. Sources told the gossip site in March that the legal woes weren’t a factor in their choice as their decision was made months before their drama with Baldoni unfolded. The Lively-Reynolds family also skipped out last year’s Met Gala in favor to spend time with their children.
Lively and Reynolds have been away from the spotlight since the lawsuits came to light. The Another Simple Favor actress recently talked about the struggles she faced in the past year in an interview with Seth Meyers. “What I can say without going too into it is that this year has been full of the highest highs and the lowest lows of my life,” she told the Late Night host. “I see so many women around afraid to speak, afraid to share their experiences. Fear is by design. It’s what keeps us silent. I acknowledge that many people don’t have the opportunity to speak. I feel fortunate that I have been able to. It’s the women who have had the ability to use their voice that have kept me strong and have helped me in my fight to make the world safer for women and girls. It’s a pretty simple thing.”
