King Charles is standing his ground when it comes to his family. The monarch is reportedly angry at his youngest son, Prince Harry, after he revealed that he doesn’t talk to him anymore. However, Charles is looking out for the greater good of the nation.
In a statement about the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, Buckingham Palace said that King Charles and his family “are much looking forward to all the week’s VE Day events.” The statement continued, “They will unite with the rest of the nation and those across the Commonwealth and wider world in celebrating, commemorating and giving thanks to the wartime generation whose selfless devotion, duty and service should stand as an enduring example to us all — and must never be forgotten.”
The report comes days after The Sun reported that King Charles didn’t appreciate Prince Harry’s reaction to his appeal loss. “What has frustrated and upset him on a more personal level is the Duke’s failure to respect this principle,” the insider told the publication. “And for his supporters to suggest that somehow his father doesn’t care about his family, or should step in.”
After losing his appeal to restore public funding to his security detail, Prince Harry talked to the BBC about how he would like to talk to his father again. “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore.”
“Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has,” he said about his father who was diagnosed with cancer in 2024. “He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff, but it would be nice to reconcile.” He also added that his father should be open to reconciliation and help solve his security problem. “There is a lot of control and ability in my father’s hands,” he said. “Ultimately, this whole thing could be resolved through him. Not necessarily by intervening, but by stepping aside, allowing the experts do what is necessary.”
Going through the legal process for Harry “uncovered” his “worst fears”. He said of losing the decision: “I’m devastated – not so much as devastated with the loss that I am about the people behind the decision, feeling as though this is okay. Is it a win for them?”
He continued: “I’m sure there are some people out there, probably most likely the people that wish me harm, [who] consider this a huge win.”
Prince William might put even more stress on the strain since it was reported that the heir to the throne would strip Harry of his titles once he is King. A source told The Daily Beast: “Charles might be happy to put up with this, but William won’t. He loathes and despises Harry and Meghan with every bone in his body, he believes they have betrayed everything the family stands for and the idea that they are using their royal status as a calling card will enrage him.”
