Travis Kelce Was Seen on a Solo Outing After Reportedly ‘Needing Time’ For Himself Amid Taylor Swift Breakup Rumors
The whirlwind that has been the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce relationship has truly not stopped for a second since the two started dating almost two years ago. And the two have been either very solid or on the brink of a breakup at any given point in those two years, depending on the rumors. There’s also been a lot going on for both, with the Eras Tour for Swift, and Kelce literally in the middle of two NFL seasons—one that ended in a Super Bowl win and one in a Super Bowl loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.
But these days, with one of fashion’s biggest events up ahead, people are wondering, will we see the couple’s red-carpet debut? Almost two years in and Swift and Kelce have not yet walked a red carpet together, and is there a bigger one than the Met Gala to make their debut in? The answer is arguably no.

All of this comes as Kelce was spotted in New York City by himself late last week posing for a photoshoot in a cable-knit sweater with green details, cream colored pants, and sneakers, according to Page Six. Swift, meanwhile, has not emerged out of the self-imposed break the two took after the Eras Tour and the Super Bowl. It always made sense that Kelce would be seen first as the NFL Draft just passed, which means NFL Training Camp is around the corner. Man does have to go work, after all. Swift’s job doesn’t require her to be as visible.
Of course, Kelce being in New York is in no way a confirmation that he will be heading to the Met Gala, or that Swift will be going with him. But that didn’t stop fans from speculating. “There for the Met?” one fan replied to a People Magazine Instagram post, while someone else said, “Met Monday!”
Last time Swift attended the Met Gala was in 2016, when she co-chaired the event. Almost a decade later feels like a good time to make a return, doesn’t it? And it’s not like the two have been shy about their relationship, so a joint appearance at an event like the Met doesn’t feel outside of the realm of possibility.
Both Kelce and Swift had taken a step back from the spotlight in an effort to live a “normal life” after the time spent on the Eras Tour and the spotlight that was Super Bowl. One source told to Us Weekly they “needed time for themselves,” adding, “Taylor and Travis are doing great, and they’re still very much together and in love. They’re just taking a break from the public eye.”
Who can blame them? And honestly, that probably points to the two of them not heading to the Met Gala. Particularly considering the reports of what the two got up to in their time away.
“A lot of their time is spent at home just relaxing. Despite their fame, they’re really just like any other couple,” an insider told Page Six. “They like to cuddle on the couch and watch movies, play board games, spend time with family, cook dinner together, and just hang out,” the source added.
Or maybe that’s a sign it’s time to glam it up? Every couple needs a fun night out every once in a while, after all.
