It all started with text messages that emerged in Justin Baldoni’s countersuit against Lively. In them, Lively allegedly referred to her friend Swift as one of her “dragons” alongside husband Ryan Reynolds, in a Game of Thrones reference. At the time, reports indicated this damaged Lively and Swift’s friendship, as Swift was reportedly “royally pissed off,” according to TMZ, especially since she “never had a dog in the fight.
However, reports had indicated that the friendship was on the mend. “Blake knew she and Taylor would come back from this at some point and that their friendship wasn’t done for good,” a source told People before this latest development. “Taylor was really hurt by this situation, so she’s relieved they were able to recover from this and put it all behind them because it wasn’t something she took lightly.”
That, however, seems to contradict recent reports that Lively not just asked that Swift delete their text messages, but that Lively’s attorney allegedly contacted Swift’s representatives and demanded that she release a “statement of support” for Lively and threatened to leak embarrassing text messages if she didn’t. In the aftermath of that People reported that, according to sources, “Their friendship has halted,” as “Taylor wants no part in this drama.”
According to the outlet Baldoni’s latest subpoena has “fractured” the “fragile peace” between the former friends, and they are indeed “taking some space.” However, other insiders claim they are “not no longer friends,” just not as close as they used to be.
Amid these blackmail reports, which Lively´s camp denied, Lively stepped out with her husband—Ryan Reynolds—who has been steadfastly on her side throughout the whole drama. The two were spotted hand in hand for a date night in Manhattan’s Soho neighborhood on Sunday night.
Lively hasn’t just had her husband’s support during this complicated time. Last week she was seen dining in New York with another longtime friend, Salma Hayek and her sister, actress Robyn Lively. Hayek even spoke about their friendship with E! News, sharing with the outlet she and Lively have been friends for a long time, and she was close with Lively and Reynolds’ four children.
“I got a chance to go play with them. They got to see their Tía Salma,” Hayek said. “They understand Spanish, and they’re lovely,” she added.
The Gossip Girl actress leaning on other friends comes as speculation of where her relationship with Taylor Swift is continues to be a daily topic of discussing. Their friendship is done,” and added that, “What Blake has done was exploit the Godmother of her children and manipulate the public into thinking that she was watching out for her best interests.”
A representative of Swift responded to DailyMail.com after the singer was subpoenaed as a witness in Blake and Justin Baldoni’s legal battle, saying, “’Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.”
Swift’s song, ‘My Tears Ricochet’ was featured on the soundtrack of the film.
What this means for the Lively and Swift friendship it’s hard to tell just yet, but one thing is for sure, Lively still has her husband on her side.
