Multiple reports confirm that King Charles has reached out to former President Joe Biden after he announced his cancer diagnosis. The Monarch, who has also been diagnosed with cancer, extended his support after Biden did the same a year ago.
People reported that King Charles sent Biden a letter after the latter announced his prostate cancer diagnosis on May 18, 2025. A statement from his team read, “Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,” the statement said.
It continued, “While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management.”
In response to the overwhelming support, Biden posted on social media, “Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.
When King Charles was diagnosed with an undiagnosed cancer last year, President Biden responded: “I’m concerned about him. Just heard about his diagnosis. I’ll be talking to him, God willing.”
He later posted a reaction on social media: “Navigating a cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship takes hope and absolute courage.”
Buckingham Palace made a statement about the diagnosis at the time: “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”
The statement continued: “His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”
King Charles was hospitalized in March 2025 after he experienced temporary side effects from his ongoing cancer treatment. ”Charles is indeed a sick man, and he does have cancer,” an insider told NewsNationNow. “He also refused chemotherapy and decided on a less invasive treatment.”
This comes as European Editor-at-Large at the Daily Beast, Tom Sykes, revealed on the outlet’s podcast that “succession plans are gearing up” as “no one is really expecting Charles to live, you know, more than three or four years.”
